I own both, but I'm biased, b/c I baby my P228. Easy decision for me, G19.

A Glock nDLC coated slide is much more resistant to rust & corrosion than a Sig folded carbon steel slide. A G19 is also a lot easier to replace than a P228.

I have never liked the feel of Glocks, so the SIG would be my pick.

The lightness of the Glock is nice, but not enough of a difference.

I tend to lean towards Jones' suggestion. What's your rig situation?

I prefer an all kydex IWB in humid situations, but those can't hide weight like a quality leather option can.

What’s your method of carry? I ask because Florida humidity mid summer is no joy. If IWB, be sure your holster has a sweat guard. Too bad you Don’t own a Glock 26. Perfect carry Wink

You shoot both the same.
Then I'd go with the lighter of the guns.

You're heading to Fla. hot and humid... Yeah, lighter is better.

Me? I carry a G-19, with a -19 magazine in the gun, and usually a few G-17 magazines for spare mags. A good IWB holster, and you'll be fine.

When I travel I always have a carry gun on me and a truck gun in the console vault. So - take both.

Honestly weight has a lot less to do with it than humidity and rust. It’s summer in Florida, wherever you are it’s wet. Near the coast it’s salt water. If you go withOut air conditioning the humidity is higher and if you are around air conditioning you are going to get micro condensation going from conditioned to outside air. 228s suck in this environment for corrosion reasons. A 229 is a different story but a blued 228 will be more of a pain than Glock 19 or other gun with a heartier finish to carry around and have on you. That’s before you consider sweat ect.

G19. Lighter and thinner FTW. But frankly if it were ME I'd be looking at something smaller like a P365 or a Shield Plus, or some other micro 9. Considering the potential attire on this two month sojourn an easy to conceal form factor would go to the top of my list of must haves. Or course it helps to already have/own one of these options before making that consideration.

GLOCK 19. It’ll stand up better to the environment.

I was thinking G19 for the sweatiness. Also spare mags are more comfortable as I think its my 226 or 229 has those skinny bases that snap at my fat. I'm currently roadtripping and I rolled with a CR920 which is basically a G43 with extra cap. Its a good gun but I miss my 19. I'll bring her flowers and tell her I'm sorry and she'll take me back. She always does when I try to stray.

I live in the Houston area which has all the humidity of Florida plus higher temps. I carry every day and never have any corrosion issues at all. Most days you go from an air conditioned house to an air conditioned truck to an office with AC or a store with AC. No one here hangs out outside for long in the summer. Its been over 95 here every day for two months straight.

For reference I have been carrying the P365 since they came out. Prior to that I carried a G19. I have also carried a 229 without any issues.

Of your 2 choices, I would go with the 19. That said, I rarely carry my 19 since I I bought a G43X.

I agree with SigSentry. In addition, I would take a second gun.

Thats my first thought. Easier to replace a G19 then a 228.
