I just wanted to give a short report on my experiences with my new SIG Sauer M11 A-1. I shot 500 rounds on the 1st day and with Fiocchi 115 grain 9 mm FMJ I had about 5 malfunctions mostly stovepipes. After 2 and rounds with this ammo I had no more malfunctions. After 200 rounds I had no more malfunctions. Range Trip 1 Rounds 1 - 200 Fiochhi 115 grain 9mm Rounds 200 - 300 PMC Bronze 115 grain 9mm Rounds 300 - 400 Federal Premium 115 grain 9mm Rounds 400 - 500 Selier & Belot 115 grain 9mm The double-action trigger pull felt like it was 15 pounds and with the short reach trigger I had trouble with my nondominant hand pulling it. There was very little to hold onto and it was very hard to pull the trigger. I called SIG and since I wanted to get the action enhancement package and the gun was new they stated that they would give me free shipping. I also replaced the Short Reach Trigger with the regular size trigger but of course kept the the Short Reset Trigger. Of course it cost me $179 for the AEP and $34 for changing the Short "Reach" Trigger back to a regular one. I like the regular trigger better. It was easier to rapid fire the pistol with the Short Reach Trigger combined with the Short Reset Trigger but that only wastes ammo. PS SIG replaced the Extractor for me while it was there. I went to the range Friday and Saturday and shot 500 rounds each time. I only experienced two malfunctions and that was with once again Fiochhi Ammo 9mm 115 grain FMJ. After the 1st 2 malfunctions I had no more in the next 900 rounds. Range Trip 2 Rounds 500 - 600 Fiochhi 115 grain 9mm Rounds 600 - 700 Selier & Belot 115 grain 9mm Rounds 700 - 800 Federal Premium 115 grain 9mm Rounds 800 - 900 Blazer Brass 155 grain 9mm Rounds 900 - 1000 PMC Bronze Range Trip 3 No Malfunctions Rounds 1000 - 1100 PMC Bronze 115 grain 9mm Rounds 1100 - 1200 Federal Prem. 115 grain 9mm Rounds 1200 - 1300 PMC Bronze 115 grain 9mm Rounds 1300 - 1400 Federal Prem. 115 grain 9mm Rounds 1400 - 1500 Hornady FTX 155 grain 9mm I put Hogue rubber grips on the pistol which significantly reduces the recoil. Thus, my pistol does does not seem to like Fiocchi ammo and even with PMC bronze and Federal Premium sometimes the rounds do not go into the barrel smoothly when racking. I am not surprised since its target ammo. When I use the Hornady FTX critical self-defense rounds they slip right into the gun very easily. The pistol is a little heavy but it is nice and compact and fun to shoot. Happy shooting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Democracy is 2 Wolves & a Lamb debating the lunch menu. I have found stovepipe failures to be caused by 2 things, either weak ammo or limp wristing, or a combo of both. Sorry to hear of your issues, mine has performed 100% on anything I put through it. | |||
