New to RD optics since I'm not really a user of them, but, I have an XTEN and it seems like a good platform to place one on. Is Sig's Romeo2 the RD to go with, or, are there other options out there that may be a better choice. Are there certain things that I should be looking for in a RD optic. Principle use would be general shooting, and, possibly deer hunting with it. I use to use a Smith 629 for deer, and, out of a tree stand it was quite nice. Tks, c4

I would choose the Aimpoint Acro P2 over the Romeo 2. I prefer the Acro purged closed emitter compare PD to the Romeo 2s cover. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. Thanks Black, it looks like a very versatile optic & will definitely look into it. c4

Having just replaced another customer's Romeo RDS for another brand's all due to the SIG optic's failure, I certain would recommend looking at almost any other red dot rather than SIG's. The only other reflex RDS brand that we've had worse luck with is Burris and their Fastfire line. -MG

Thanks Mono, that's good to know. I read a bunch of reviews on the Sig sights and they weren't all that favorable. It will definitely take some research considering the investment that will be involved. Any idea how the RD's withstand the recoil impulse of full power 10mm rounds?

The Acro will have zero issues. They are frequently mounted on shotguns ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

I swear I had something for this |
Depends entirely on what line of Sig optics you're looking at. If you're looking at their cheap line, they're cheap for a reason. If you're looking at their higher end ones like the Romeo 4, Romeo 8, or even the Romeo 2 which they tested by battering it with 10mm recoil while developing the 10mm P320. Even the Romeo 1 Pro has a disclaimer on the Sig website that says it's not rated for 10mm ammo. And with the Romeo 2, you get the option of if you want a closed optic or not. Personally, I'd go for the newer Romeo X because it's still tough enough to hammer nails into a board and still work, but you don't have to replace your sights with Suppressor Height Sights.

This is just me personally. I don't trust Sig on optics. Too many bad experiences and not much of a track record to rely on. An ACRO is bulletproof. An RMR is completely serviceable and reliable for your use. Both completely proven. IMO. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
