Are fiber optic sights and a red dot a problematic combination?
I have a Trijicon RMR on the way for my 320 and have very little pistol red dot experience.
I have a green fiber optic front sight on my 320 currently. Will this be problematic?

Probably not unless you have truly co-witness height front sights.

I barely notice the FO front on my STI w/a Holoson 509. Using the proper height Dawson sights, the front sits very low in the window.

I can't say that I've ever shot the gun in some apocalyptically bright desert sun, but in the conditions I shoot in, I barely register the front sight.

When shooting with a red dot, your focus should be on the target, which is a much different focal plane than your front sight. Therefore, even with a bright fiber optic, the out-of-focus front sight tucked away at the bottom quarter or sixth of your optic frame would still be less prominent than the in-focus target and red dot in the center.

However, my optic handguns have basic backup iron sights, with either a blank or a simple tritium vial front with no outline paired with a blank rear sight. Those are barely noticeable, but I don't have any personal experience shooting with a very bright front sight and a red dot optic, just a hypothesis that it shouldn't matter that much.

I've come to prefer plain iron sights with an optic...or...gasp...no iron sights.
