It looks like these finally hit the market for real. IIRC they announced them at SHOT a few years back and then they never materialized. Maybe I have been living under a rock, but it seems like Kahr finally snuck them to market without telling anybody, and Bud's currently shows them in stock.

I'm intrigued by the concept. A DAO-ish (yeah, I know it's a pre-cocked striker, but not fully-so) trigger in a package about the size of a P365 with similar capacity. My biggest concern is reliability, followed by the trigger reach. Comparing them on handgun hero, the trigger reach looks shorter than a P365, which is already too short for me. Does anybody here have real-life experience with one of these that could provide some honest feedback?

guns & ammo calls out the short trigger reach specifically in their "review".

Apparently it's designed for midgets, and Guns & Ammo noticed. That's disappointing. I'd still like to hear some real-life feedback from people who aren't on a publication's payroll, though.

Somebody needs to make little guns for big people. The Glock 43x/48 are pretty good in that regard, but I'd really prefer something DA/SA or DAO and without a grip angle that naturally indexes with my hand to launch rounds into the sky.

From the linked article:

If you’ve got small hands, I think you’ll like how the X9 is laid out. The reach to the trigger is quite short. After the takeup, the distance between the trigger face and the backstrap is just 21⁄3 inches. That’s about half-an-inch less than on a SIG Sauer P365. If you’ve got big hands, the X9 might not be for you.

So it's bigger than the 365, that's a no from me as I pocket carry

I carried a PM9 for a long time but went with the 365 a few a couple years ago because of the higher capacity. The 365 is as big as I want to go

I have had 2 Kahr pistols. They just would not work although they recommended at the time that the guns needed about 600 rounds of break in.

Sold them at about 50% loss each and just will not look back.

I wonder if this new gun will do away with my major beef with the Kahr - the funky magazine. The cartridges load in all manner of weird angles; you can see some nose-dive and others point ahead or slightly up. This wouldn't be bad by itself, but the top round is held loosely, so much so that it inches its way forward halfway out of the magazine and has to be pushed back into place before loading a fresh mag.

My Dad still carries his PM9, granted he rarely shoots it.

Although I'm with you.
I bought and sold both a CM9 (had it refinished in Ion-bond) and CW 380.
Neither was 100% reliable despite the 500 or 600 round breaking period.

I had a E9 (less finely finished and plastic sights, otherwise like the K9) for a time. It never failed to feed, fire or shuck, but did like to bean me with ejected cases and the front sight fell off. Also a pretty good shooter when you get used to the unique trigger. The K9 was, for a time, an approved NYPD plainclothes/off-duty gun until the department decided all guns had to have heavy triggers.

I am a big fan of the Kahr K9 but passed mine on to a family member a few years back and the X9 got my interest in Kahrs again, however now I am on the hunt for a K9 Elite with Polished slide. I like the trigger action way better than a traditional Stryker Fired pistol

I carry a CM9 as my EDC and really like it a lot. They have really great triggers and if you like a long and firm DAO type trigger, then you'll like them. My CM9 is shockingly soft shooting for a tiny 9mm

They DO have one quirk which some people may not like: being that they are so strongly sprung, you are supposed to never slingshot a Kahr to load. You always lock back, insert mag then hit slide release.

Seems like Kahr gets a lot of grief here but it's never given me any trouble, same with the previous Kahrs I've owned:

MK9: nice but just too heavy for size being all steel
CW40: I did not like the .40 S&W round and consolidated on .380 and 9mm
CW380: my last pocket gun before moving up to the CM9, was also a really good one
