BennerP220Is the glock 48, Glock’s commander?
I was thinking about this, this evening. Single stack, 4 in barrel. I know the trigger and operation are different. Size wise, it seems to be Glock’s 9mm commander. What does everyone think?

12131"Commander" applies to 1911 only, to my mind.

NismoI think you mean the Glock 43X, 19X, and the Glock 45 if you are referring to Commander as in full sized grip with a short slide.

triaxleI was thinking 19 X or Glock 45.

kidcopYes, it is.
A slim, single stack pistol that splits the difference between a full-on duty gun and a purpose-built small concealed carry pistol.

sns3guppyGlock doesn't have a "commander."
The 1911 was a single stack from it's inception. The Commander nothing more than a slightly shortened slide and barrel with a full length grip.
The Glock was a double stack from its inception. The 19X nothing more than a slightly shortened slide with a full length grip.
The G48 is a single stack G19. So no, not at all the same, or similar.

BennerP220Yeah, I didn't think about the shorter slide on the full size frame. I do understand the G48 being a single stack 19.
I cannot believe how much I like this glock. I do switch the 43 and 48 slide from time to time when I need a slightly smaller carry.

sns3guppyIt's a neat little pistol. I didn't think much of the concept when it was announced, but I picked up the G48 and 43X, and found that I like them both quite a bit.

ScotP7Yes. You nailed it.
It is a great gun.
(Would that make the 43 the Colt Junior? Except I never saw a Junior in the league of the 43, and can't let myseld acknowledge the 42.

RogueJSKDon't forget about the G36, which is Glock's Officer Model. (It was designed to compete with Compact/Officer 1911s.)

Ryanp225"Commander" is a 1911. Glock can't be a commander any more than Toyota can call one of their trucks a Mustang.

YooperSigsCommander means Colt to me. The G48 is more like Glocks version of the P225.
Or S&W 39.

Kind of.
The 30 is a scaled down G21, and the G36 is a single stack G30.
In fact, the G30S uses the upper from the G36.

Texas Bob C.I don't know what to compare it to but I love my 48. Superb little pistol.

BennerP220All replies make sense and are appreciated. It does remind me of the sig 225 and S&W 39
