LincolnSixEchoWinchester 55 grain .223 FMJ these days?
I know people have said positive and negative things over the years about Winchester white box though I came into a decent supply of standard Winchester white box 55 grain and was wondering if it’s still pretty decent practice ammo? How is the quality compared to say federal or PMC or other mid to low tier brands? Has it gone up or down in quality over the years or about the same as it always was?
Couple of my barrels are 1:7 and one is a 1:9 so I feel like it would do better in the latter.

egregoreIt has done just fine for me. Out of my Ruger AR-556 (16-inch) it has always gone bang and made holes. I have also chronographed it and it does 3,000 f/s.

CPD SIGI don’t know how many thousands of Winchester White Box I’ve put through my guns.
Im not talking about 3 or 4 thousand… easily north of 25,000 rounds.
9mm, .45, .223 & 5.56…
I can’t remember when one DIDN'T go bang.
Reliable, inexpensive and accurate
For inexpensive range stuff, go for it without hesitation.
That being said- it’s dirty.
You will get more carbon buildup from White Box than other types of ammunition.

straightshooter1Winchester White box in 5.56 is what I use in my ARs for everything. They have been reliable, accurate and the price is good. The same in 38, 9mm, and 45acp are the rounds I use for practice. But if Winchester White Box was the only ammo I could get for all my firearms, I'd still think I was well provisioned.
