Dead Air Lazarus 6

jljonesDead Air Lazarus 6
I have to say I’m really impressed. About 500 rounds in. Very low blow back on a 14.5 and 11.5 gun. Several ounces less than a Surefire RC3.
Even on the 11.5 gun you can burn a half a mag fast, remove the mag and the bullets aren’t frosted.

AUTiger89What caliber(s) are you running through it?

Ronin101are you using direct thread?

KSGMI'd wager Jones is shooting 5.56mm. I'd make a slightly less confident wager that he's using a Surefire HUB adapter.

Dwill104First time I took my L6 out, I ran it on my 11” HK MR556A4, along with my Explorr .224. To be honest, I didn’t tell much of a difference in performance with the lighter and cheaper Explorr, although for durability the L6 is likely to win in the end. The L6 did heat up very quickly, though. Burn up half a mag pretty quickly, and that’s not the only thing you’ll burn!

jljonesSorry fellas. I’m shooting 5.56. And I’m using the keymo three prong.

jljonesGot a new BCM 11.5 upper. Installed a three prong and the Lazarus. The weird thing is the gun is perfectly gassed while shooting suppressed. Yet again, no gas to the face.

P220 SmudgeI haven’t posted about it yet, thread to follow, but I’m a flow-through believer now also. I’m gonna be ordering a rifle can as soon as I can, hopefully in the next month or so. The difference on a 9mm subgun type is ridiculous, I need that on the 11.5 URGI.

jljonesRarely am I impressed with something new, but damn if the 11.5 BCM/Lararus combo is awesome. Low everything. Low blowback, low recoil, low heat (the suppressor/upper does not heat as fast as an RC2), and low crud in the chamber/magazine.

GustoferIt's a lot beefier than I expected. I got to fondle mine a little today as I did the efiling thing (should have it next week if things go as expected). I bought it for an AR pistol.

GustoferDrove down and picked mine up today and...I like it. A little louder than I expected, but still quiet enough to go sans protection should one desire.
Here's what I found interesting, and I'm not sure if other 5.56 suppressors are similar as I'm kind of an amateur when it comes to suppressors (I've only shot .22 and .30cal ones). Typically with a shot, you've got the initial explosion boom followed by that (and I don't know of a better way to describe it) KYEEEEWWWWWWW that echos off into the hinterlands. With this, that KYEEEEWWWWWW is gone and the initial boom is drastically reduced.
I'm sold. Is it worth $1000? No, but then I'm kind of cheap, so there's that. But, if you've got the scratch burning a hole in your pocket, go for it.

jljonesI shot about 400 rounds today. The bolt is still moist. Chamber looks cleaner than shooting unsuppressed.

jljonesWell.
Last night I was 200 rounds into a training session. It was about 30 degrees and sleeting. We had been shooting 35 yard double bills for a couple of mags. One platoon shoots their relay, and then the other. My gun had a few minutes to cool while the other relay was on the line. Gun and shooter (me) had been doing really well all night. Shooting above my capability so to speak.
After the double bills (2 mags worth) we moved to the 10 yard line. We did three evolutions of six rifle, transition to pistol and six rounds pistol.
I say all that to explain this-
All of the rifle rounds tumbled and hit 2 foot low from the 10 yard line.
First thing I did was check the suppressor. It was tight. I then fired 5 rounds slow fire to the head box. 1 round hit the head only.
I removed the can and inspected the can and upper. Nothing was noticed. I then shot a group unsuppressed. All 5 rounds went through the same hole at 10. Reattached the can and put all five rounds through the same hole. Like it never happened. We scoped the can today. No signs of defects.
Cleaned the rifle and shot a group today. Gun shoots just like a BCM does at 4500 or do rounds.
WTF?

Fans of Keymo say the only problems with it are all user error, but there are a growing number of suppressor manufacturers who will flatly not warranty damage to cans if you're using Keymo. Far and away, it's the attachment method with the most problems on the market currently. If you're set on using Dead Air stuff, then Xeno is at least taper mount and repeatable, but random weird shit like what you had happen screams mount problems to me.

jljonesWell, can comes loose at 10 or so rounds in on a string of fire. Out of the cans we purchased at work, one other has started coming loose.
Swapped mine to a Zeno mount yesterday. I’m sure that will fix it.

pedropcolaWell thanks to all you guy’s input I finally settled on Xeno. Other than jones’s contrarian nature I tend to follow what he posts with keen interest. (I kid, I somewhat kid, lol) Professionals are professionals for a reason.
That is me saying if jones went Xeno I can’t be doing it all wrong. Even if he can’t spell.

jljonesXeno seems to work just fine

pedropcolaThat’s good because I have one sitting at the store awaiting release. Xeno as well.
I’ve been thinking of getting the Surefire HUB adapter since I have a couple Surefire muzzle devices but I’ve heard mixed reviews. Hmmm.
Glad the new setup is working.

flesheatingvirusI'll bet it was a VERY slight alignment issue. The rounds were probably barely brushing a baffle or the endcap on the way out. Have you checked it with an alignment rod? I've had this happen where you can only see the smallest smear of copper on the inside of the endcap from where the bullet brushed by.
If not, I would mount it, check it, unmount/remount and check it again. I'd do that several times starting attaching it from different positions (like SN 12:00, 6:00, etc.).
