I am pushing 5 months this month and am getting anxious. My last one took 8 months. I would love an early Christmas present. Wink

According to the silencer shop website for data complied over the last three months approval times on form 4's are averaging 7-1/2 months give or take. Which tells me some are getting approved in less than that since many here have had their's in cue for pushing a year. I will start to get a bit excited after the first of the year as I will be at about 5 months at that point. Wink

I got two approved F4s in 2020 at 5 1/2 months and 6 months. The one I received in August 2021 took 8 months, which was pretty close to the norm right now, from what I understand.

I trust this thread at arf much more than the NFA tracker over at Silencer shop.

It’s possible it could take 5 months, but I think it’s highly unlikely. I think you’re much more likely to be at 8-10 months.

I submitted 2 form 4 individual silencers on 2/26 and 3/16 of 2021 via a SilencerShop kiosk. The checks were cashed on 3/9 and 3/24. The first one finally got approved on 1/27/2022, I got the call from the dealer on 2/8 and picked it up today. So, 11 months. Theoretically, the 2nd one should come in around the end of the month.

Good grief. I am at around seven months and was thinking any day now. Frown

Yeah, I've been thinking that since September. The two I submitted just about a year earlier (end of January `20), were both approved at the end of July. 6 months. So either (1) the volume of applications has increased dramatically, (2) covid has slowed the processing, or (3) ATF has been told to slow things down. Not sure which, maybe a combination of all three.

It seems a total crap shoot. I know plenty of people with waits at 6-7 months and an equal number at more than a year. Nothing apparent on the differences. Its not something systematic otherwise the variance makes no sense.

It may also be that FBI is behind in processing background checks because of all those trouble-making parents and extremist right-wing churchgoers that they have to investigate now.

Just certified my Dead Air Mask switch over to the eForm with my dealer yesterday. We’ll see if it really takes 90 days.

After much dilly dallying on the part of my transfering dealer, eForm 4 is finally filed (individual) as of March 19.
