NFA wait times
I have done the following recently. Both are Form 4s submitted through the Silencer Shop as an individual:

9/14/24 Submitted
9/17/24 Approved

11/6/24 Submitted
11/25/24 Approved

At least for me, there was a slow down in the approval time.

happy thanksgiving to me.
Eform4 submitted Wed. before thanksgiving. back today. wow just wow. I worry I'm going to get one of these long delay ones, but so far I've dodged that. Have a form1 I need to get submitted we will see haven't done one of those in awhile.

I'm shocked, I just got mine back in 3 days on a trust. I know the individuals were quick, but I didn't think it would be that fast on a trust.

Back when they made the changes to how they process Form 4's, they said they were going to prioritize individuals first, but that trust submissions would eventually get treated the same way. It's been nearly a year of that now, so I guess maybe that's starting to happen. I haven't been poring through my NFA submission/approval tracking stuff like I was all last year, maybe it's about time to read the tea leaves again.

On topic, I need to get off my butt and apply for a UPIN. I want to do another Form 1 here pretty soon and don't want to have to go to my congressman again in 90 days to hassle NICS about the inevitable delay. Roll Eyes

Less than 2 weeks on all my last 4, that’s in the past 6 months. Need to form 1 the Uzi and order a suppressor and that’ll be it for a while for me I suppose.

Just put in three F1s this morning. Last one took 48 hours. Will I get lucky again? Probably not.

Oh, I believe it. I’m not representative, every single one of my NFA submissions has had a delayed NICS check. Back when NICS Liaison would even talk to you, I was able to inquire and they cleared it up. Back in April, they started stonewalling everyone with a form response. Likely, they got sick of people doing their first suppressors calling and emailing after a week. ATF got sick of it also, and IPB won’t even talk to you unless you have a submission running past 90 days. Essentially, I have to get a UPIN or wait 90 days before I can even have it confirmed that I’ve been delayed. Since I’m 9/9 delays to submissions, I figured it’s just guaranteed.

Wow; submitted 12/14 and approved 12/18 on a trust. That’s crazy fast compared to the first one.

Form 1 trust submitted 12/25. Today is 23 days, and they have 21 days listed as the average. Same shit - NICS pointed their finger at the ATF, the ATF says it's NICS' problem and that they're still dealing with delays from July of last year. Yet again, I've enlisted the help of my representative. Last time, I had approvals in 24 hours. Lots of guys where I check are saying that their congressmen are getting told to pound salt and that it's still weeks afterwards before they get their approvals.

This shit where NICS can sit on delays for months on end for stocks and mufflers on pistols that you can walk out of a gun store with after an hour's wait has got to go. I'm going to apply for my UPIN, but most of what I'm seeing from guys who thought that was the answer to their NFA delays have seen zero difference once they got theirs. What a broken, fucked up system.

Today, I got an email from my representative saying he contacted NICS, and they processed my check and gave me a proceed. Seven minutes later, I had an email from an ATF examiner pointing out an error in my submission where I forgot to include my trust name in my RPQ, to correct it and email her back "today" letting her know it was fixed. I fixed it, emailed her back and thanked her for allowing me to fix it instead of just issuing a denial, and twenty minutes after that, I had my approval email.
