I have not had the pleasure of an EF1 that has come back in anything like 2 weeks. More like 2-3 months. But we will see as I'm tossing one in this week.

On Reddit, there’s been a slew out form 4 individual approvals of a week or less, some as short as two and… yes… a legit one day.

I submitted a Trust Form 4 (through Silencer Shop) for a Huxwrx HX-QD 762 TI on 8/14/2023 and approved on 02/08/2024. Just shy of 6 months!

Just had a customer submit an eform 4 11/26/23 and came back approved 2/15/24. Pretty cool. But I've still got one still pending at about a year....

Well, just for giggles, I sent NICS Liaison an email requesting a check on my control numbers. Form 4 efile, 114 and 110 days, respectively. I have had people tell me I haven't waited long enough, but based on everything I've seen this last year, collating approval info from three different places on the web, if you don't ask, you just get to wait about a year. If you ask nicely, often as not, you'll get an approval within a few days. Worked for me at 122 days for a batch of four Form 1's late last summer, hopefully it works for a batch of two cans in the next few days. I'm seeing guys who ask get Form 4 trust efiles back in a few months or less, and there's a whole bunch of guys getting 1-5 day approvals filed as individuals, so fuck it.

I guess we'll find out either way.

I just got the same suppressor today. Took about 2.5 months. Mine was for an individual though so more straightforward.

It sure as hell seems that most of the ones that jump to the front of the queue are individual. It almost makes me regret using a trust.

That has nothing to do with it. At 10 months on an individual. What’s happening is ATF is fast walking more recent submissions to get their average wait time numbers down instead of processing older submissions.

It’s a fool’s errand trying to figure out their logic (or lack thereof) in processing order and assuming if you did this or that, it would get processed faster. It won’t.

I just received mine in the mail on 2/22/24. Total time was 291 days which included a trust. That was about 30 days longer than my first one I think in 2022.

LGS had one that was submitted 2/26 and approved yesterday. They say average wait times of recent submissions is 20-40 days for E form 4s.

Well, I don't know if this is the standard Chicken Little shit that gun website and GunTubers push because it drives clicks and ad revenue, but there's a couple posts on the NFA subreddit confirming it's down. I just checked and it is down for me as well.

https://www.ammoland.com/2024/...-budgeting-concerns/

quote:
Earlier in the week, AmmoLand News received a concerning tip from an anonymous source about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) eForms system being shut down for the foreseeable future. This tip came through our anonymous tip box and was also given to YouTuber DLD After Dark by a second source and passed on to AmmoLand. Without verification, we were unable to share the information with the public.

Since being informed of the pending shutdown, the eForms system went offline exactly when our sources predicted it would. AmmoLand News was able to verify the information with a third party that this wasn’t an unscheduled outage and was planned by the ATF. The vendor responsible for eForms received notification that the system would be taken offline for “Congressional budgeting concerns.”
Although the email cited Congressional budgeting issues, it did not specify them. Currently, the government is facing a shutdown, but a deal for a continuing resolution (CR) has been reached, and the ATF is currently operating under the old resolution that isn’t due to expire until Friday. This fact leads many to wonder why the ATF decided to shut down the system.

EForms applications have been going through incredibly fast lately, leading many to wonder if the speed of approval was the ATF trying to clear out the backlog of applications before the system was taken offline. The ATF has been mum about the increased speed of approvals and why that hasn’t always been the case since eForms was launched. Excitement over the speed has turned to dread since the system was taken offline.

Form 4 submissions are coming back fast!

Congress specifically earmarks funding for the ATF’s eForms system to speed up the approval process of NFA) applications. By shutting down the system, it appears that the ATF is ignoring the wishes of Congress and breaking the law. To many, this shows a government agency that is out of control and doesn’t seem to be held accountable for its actions.
“The recommendation assumes that within the resources provided, ATF will prioritize funding for the National Firearms Act Division to improve firearms licensing processing timelines,” Congress wrote. “The Committee is concerned about the large number of pending applications awaiting processing by ATF. In 2013, ATF established eForms, an electronic filing process, to reduce submission and processing times as well as data entry processing backlogs. The Committee is aware ATF is currently developing ATF Form 4 into eForms and encourages ATF to prioritize funding for this continued development within the funds provided. Completing the modernization of the processing system and automating ATF Form 4 applications is critical and will free up additional resources for improved customer service and prevent backlogs from continuing to mount.”

AmmoLand News reached out to the ATF for comment, but our request was not returned by the time of writing. This situation is a fast-developing story with many moving parts. When more information becomes available, AmmoLand News will bring it to you.

Personally, I'm guessing this is either maintenance in anticipation of the potentially-pending shutdown tomorrow, or something else that's far less insidious than "fuck you and fuck congress, we're just not gonna do our jobs at all." I know, I know, they're feds and all that jazz, but still. The website is some 1999 era Geocities "are you kidding me" level technology they're running there. It could be anything, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah, I was at my FFL this afternoon for a transfer. My guess about it being panic porn over scheduled maintenance was correct. The GunTubers and websites are making a killing stirring us up to drive ad revenue.

I need to get a PCC can started.

I got an email the other day saying it was back, but never got one saying it was down.
