Different Trust for Suppressors? Login/Join

Thinking about doing a purchase soon and completing the Silencer Central kiosk.

Many different questions.

They offer free a single shot trust. That doesn’t require the other person to do photo and finger print.

But if the suppressor is in my name can the person on the single shot trust use the suppressor without me being present?

What type of trust should I look into for me and my wife to be authorized to use if the other person is not present?

Should I make the purchase first and on a latter date add some type of trust?

Or should I do some type of trust and the purchase all at the same time? I understand that adding a trust makes the process longer to get approved.

He's one opinion and we have had a few threads on it in this forum. Single shot trusts are limiting and aren't worth it. Get a full nfa trust that you can make amendments to. heavyd is a member here and can get you setup. Set it up as a one person trust, do your shopping and then add a 1 page amendment of Responsible Persons to the trust that can handle the suppressor. You get a packet that has blank 1 page amendments so you can make address changes, Responsible Person changes, add SBRs, add suppressors later etc. We have had a few

People keep quoting buy as an individual and convert to trust as they have discovered some super secret hack. Yes, individual is a bit faster, but the difference right now is 20 days or less and I don't see it worth it to go thru the hassle, just buy it on a trust to start with.

My understanding of the Single shot trust is that it only covers the one specific NFA item, you can’t add any other NFA items to the trust, and the buyer (you) are the person on the trust. I don’t think you buy an item and have a trust in someone else’s name. You have to submit photo and prints for each responsible person. If you’re the buyer, by definition you’re a RP. If a Trust buys a NFA item, every RP on the trust has to submit photo and prints, and only the people on the trust can possess the NFA item.

Not sure what you’re trying to do or avoid, but a single shot trust isn’t the way to do it.
