So, with this current rush in the suppressor market, I've been trying to keep more of them on hand. When something becomes available that seems fairly popular and not crazy expensive, I will order one or two. Doing that, you begin to see a trend of what is not moving through a distributors inventory.

So, I begin to think there are decent looking products that should be selling and maybe I'm missing something. The Dead Air Mojave is that right now. I begin to read through some forums and watch some youtube and the only thing I can figure is it's too expensive?

I ordered one anyway to demo and it's pretty nice.

What says SigForum, is there something I'm missing with this can not being well received?

That’s a fair point. I was really interested in the Sierra, then read all about the issues and Dead Air’s lack of customer service. I guess I’m mostly really intrigued by 3D printed cans. I also have a huxwrx flow .22 can and am waiting for its owner to come by so we can test it out next to my Q Erector.

But it’s a shame to have seen How Dead Air gave themselves such a black eye. I really like their mounts, the Xeno is very similar to the first mount I ever made for my form 1 can.

I'm waiting on a few Dead Air Silencers at the moment (in NFA jail), and a Mojave is on that list.

It seems like a very interesting new silencer. I haven't seen much testing on it yet, and what I've seen isn't empirical, but rather subjective, so I don't really know how it performs.

AUTiger89, I shot it on my original X5 Tactical and (aside from the sonic crack) thought it was very nice. I've got some sub sonic rounds on the way and will try it again. I think one of my neighbors has a 9mm can, maybe we will compare them this weekend.

I've been very pleased with my Dead Air Wolfman and Sandman "K" suppressors, which led to my purchase of a Mojave 9 last week. Submitted my eForm on Tuesday and received notification today (Thursday) that it was approved! Looking forward using it on my SBR 9mm PCCs as an alternative to the Wolfman.

I had an issue involving my Mojave 9 suppressor a couple weeks ago and I've got to give Dead Air kudos. During a match, I had a squib that resulted in a 150 grain bullet from my S&B subsonic load lodge in the barrel until my follow up shot (I wasn't aware the round had malfunctioned) cleared it. Upon inspection I discovered a piece of the bullet's jacket in the suppressor. When I brought the gun to my gunsmith, he determined that the end of my B&T GHM9 Compact barrel had bulged to the degree that the tri-lug connection split into multiple pieces, jamming it within the Dead Air adapter. My gunsmith was able to successfully remove the tri-lug/adapter from the barrel, but I had to ship the SBR back to B&T, so they could properly evaluate the damage and (hopefully) replace the barrel, maybe even as a warranty issue.

After contacting B&T and shipping my GHM9 Compact back to them for evaluation, I contacted Dead Air and Sillier and Bellot to bring the problem to their attention. My reason for contacting Dead Air was to ask that if I could get it separated from the tri-lug, would it be possible for them to evaluate the adapter for reuse. I said from the start that I believed the malfunction was attributable to a bad round of ammunition and not due to any kind of quality control issue of their suppressor or the adapter. Regardless, the customer service rep offered to replace the ($159.00) adapter at no cost, which I gladly accepted! I received the adapter on Saturday and attached it to the Mojave 9 can, which didn't appear to have any damage to it beyond what's been described.

While I've heard that some SF members may have had bad experience with Dead Air QC and Customer Service, I've got to say that I was very pleased with the treatment I received. FWIW: It's been a couple weeks now and I haven't heard back from Sellier and Bellot at all about the squib, that seems to have been the basis of the problem.

pulicords: How dare you post something positive about Dead Air!? Wink

Your going to have to sift through a lot of hurt feelings looking at Dead Air information online, and not all from folks with any direct experience. Based on my experience with their products and service, I wouldn't have any issues with giving them more money. I'm waiting on a Wolfman at the moment.

I own a Wolfman and a Sandman "K" in addition to the Mojave 9. Both have served me well and I'd highly recommend them! The only problem I've encountered with either, is when I'm shooting competition using the Wolfman and subsonic 9mm ammo, the guy holding the sound actuated timer needs to be right over my shoulder or the last shot won't be recorded (signally the end of my stage). It's just too quiet! Wink

Folks' beef with Dead Air is motivated by a specific problem with a specific silencer. The silencer associated with the scandal (Sierra5) is actually a good performer, they just chose poorly in their handling of the issue that affected some of them (in many folks' opinion).

I firmly believe in giving credit where credit is due and here's a shoutout to B&T for replacing my bulged barrel and installing it on the upper free of charge!!! Smile

While my damaged SBR has been put back into action through the goodness of Dead Air and B&T, it's a shame that the culprit in this matter (Sellier and Bellot) didn't even bother to acknowledge my email to them warning about the squib.

I got to take my Mojave 9 out for some pistol time on Saturday, and it was a hoot. First time I've used my own pistol suppressor. I couldn't believe how quiet it was.

We were at a public range with other people shooting around us, so I couldn't use it without hearing protection.

I did notice that supersonic loads, while louder than subsonic loads, were still quieter with the suppressor than without.

I was going to test my Nomad 30 with 300BO subs, but the rifle range was surprisingly packed, with a line waiting for open bays. The pistol range was only half full. So my Nomad will have to wait for another day.

Isn't that the WORST? We should start to have sections like they used to have for smokers in restaurants.

"pew pew" this way, please.

"BANG BANG" is way over there, sir.

Yeah, it is what it is. Fortunately, I've got a friend with some land, and I've been looking for some myself, so I should be able to take it out and try it without hearing protection soon. His son had a 300BO SBR that I tried and loved, so I can't wait to test mine out.
