Hey all- Looking through Silencershop's website I came across this unicorn Topo 22 A 22LR silencer 5.1" 4 oz that is rated for "limited 5.56". Apparently, the owner of the company says that he shoots 5.56 out of it to clean it after shooting a lot of .22! Please tell me someone on here has one and can tell us about it! Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams “It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free." -Niccolo Machiavelli The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. The B&T Tiger, SAW Katan and Keren are as well. Bolt action and a limited number of rounds is usually the move if you’re going to do that at all, but for sure a slow firing schedule. The “shoot 5.56 after shooting .22 through a can to blow the fouling out” thing is starting to be understood to be Fuddlore. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

That was quite a test. I can't wait to see one on the Topo but it's awesome to know that it's not the only option in this class. I have a B&T Tiger, and that's one of the videos that sold me on one. I haven't tried it with 5.56 because I have no need to, but it drops 5.7x28 down to the equivalent of suppressed .22 supersonic ammo type levels. Stealth Additive has a Katan they've had on a Ruger American 5.56 for several years now that has an unknown number of 55gr rounds through it. It's probably north of ten thousand rounds now. I have personally helped them put at least a few hundred through it over two industry events now, and I'll get to do it again in a few weeks. Not advisable, and they suggest a very light firing schedule, but it can be done. I can tell you first hand that 5.56 through that rifle and that can would be more than tolerable for hunting without ear pro if one were so inclined. The new Keren they just released is even quieter than the Katan. I'm going to get some time with one of those after the industry range day, so I'll be able to speak to what it sounds like on a variety of hosts. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

I honestly don't get the point of shoot to failure on the above video and numerous others doing the same. It literally has nothing to do with the fact that its a .22 supressor, but that its made of Ti. It is (I think) pretty well understood on Ti construction (both mentioned are Ti) that heat above 800 sustained will ultimately result in failure and heat near 1000 for more than breifly is guaranteed to lead to failure. And the .22 part of that has nothing to do with the material, it only has to do with how you are raising the temprature. There is little thermal mass in a 4oz suppressor so it will not last as long as say a 15oz suppressor. So maybe its worth some testing to show the rate of rise per round so if you are dumb enough to use your .22 suppressor as a 5.56 suppressor you know roughly how many rounds that might take at what rate, but who actually cares The Tiger is quiet light and terriffic. The SAW may be even better than that with gas. just don't get either too hot. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Honestly, I think anyone actually shooting 5.56 through one of these is... misguided. There are far better purpose-built options that aren't significantly bigger or heavier. I guess if anything, the videos are interesting only in that it illustrates how well they're going to hold up to abuse that the average, sane person is never going to subject them to in the first place, and should thus handily outlive any amount of shooting you could realistically run through them with a .22, .22 Mag, .17 HMR or 5.7x28. On that note, my guy at Stealth Additive says the Keren does really, really well with 5.7. I'll be bringing my PS90 and M&P 5.7 to try it out on. If they bring 5.7 ammo, they'll probably be on the demo table at the shoot, too. The 5.56 Tisha on the short PS90 sounds absolutely killer. Supposedly the Tiger sounds even better, but I don't want it for that. Would be nice to have a titanium printed can to keep on the M&P, though. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.

https://www.echocoresuppressor...product-page/topo-22 In the video, the owner talks about shooting 7-10 rounds of 5.56 out of it to clear the carbon out. I would like to think he knows what he's talking about but maybe not? Bruce "The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. Even suppressor manufacturers aren't immune to Fuddlore. You may be blowing some unburnt powder from .22's out out the suppressor, but you're not clearing out carbon with more, hotter carbon delivered faster. Fuddlore. ______________________________________________ "If the truth shall kill them, let them die.” Endeavoring to master the subtle art of the grapefruit spoon.
