A suppressor cannot be obtained from the manufacturer- you need to go thru a retailer. Silencer Shop, Esilencer or Capital Armory have posted prices.
Read the Energetic Arms website on titanium vs stainless. Energetic Arms was a company started by engineers to design and make suppressors. Your son will benefit from a 3 oz suppressor.

I have an Oculus I am very satisfied with.

I have a SilncerCo Sparrow on my Ruger American bolt action and a Dead Air Mask on my 22/45 MkIV. I can’t really tell a difference in noise attenuation (yes, I have switched them across the guns to isolate the platform differences) - both are quiet enough that I can use them on my 9 acre property with neighbors about 100 yards away without their calling the cops (we get along and they’d call me first anyway).

The big difference is in dissassembly and cleaning. The Mask is MUCH easier there. I don’t clean the Sparrow much because it is a pain. I’ve actually tried to buy new split halves and chamber section from SilencerCo (the external tube is the serialized suppressor - the innards are replaceable parts) so that I can just swap them every once in a while and drop the dirty parts at my LGS for them to clean but IIRC SilencerCo really didn’t want to sell me those parts for some reason.

Easier to clean by any method.

SilCo Switchback has an O Ring for direct threading that is machined improperly that renders the O ring concept useless.
Rugged Oculus has indexed S/S baffle stack that are timed inside of the tube.
To Time the can properly,shims are required per host.
Requires a hammer handle to assemble the baffle stack when new & a punch to pry the baffles apart.
2each short skirt baffles are required per the design flaw.
S/S baffles are harder to clean than Ti baffles.

I do not/will not own any Aluminum component suppressors.

I have a dead air mask and SilencerCo sparrow and honestly can’t tell the difference in sound - whichever one is mounted on the bolt action RUger American is slightly quieter than the one on the Ruger 22/45 (which is obviously related to the action, not the can).

The sparrow is a pain to take apart and clean though so I give the nod to the mask.

I have the following rimfire silencers:

-dead air mask 22
-otter creek Ti
-banish 22
-diligent defense road hunter

The road hunter is by far the best, it is designed based on the mask but is full titanium so it’s got a similar form factor as the mask 22 but is about 1/3rd lighter and since its titanium, its easier to clean.

The mask 22 is great but heavy and harder to clean.

help me understand what cleaning method is different between these two suppressors. because i can’t think of any method that would be ok for ti
but not ok for ss!

Tried out my DA Mask today. Was pretty impressed. Was less impressed with the host, a Sig P322, which was a jam-a-matic

A Rugged Occulus, my only suppressor,got first use yesterday. It was the first chance to try it and it was mounted on a Ruger Mk4. Both pistol and suppressor were a new experience for me but neither left me looking for something better.
edited to add that the Ruger Mk4 was a 22/45.

The P322 is fixed barrel, and I was having the same problems without the suppressor mounted. It’s just a crappy gun with issues that haven’t been fixed.

I recently picked up a OCL Titanium and it is exceptional.

I've been pleased with just about every ammuntion I've shot through it. It sounds particularly good with CCI Standard, however.

I went to buy a Switchback but wound up with an Oculus. I've only fired it on my Walther PPQ .22 and Walther Hammerli Force B1. Holy cow is it quiet. Cleaning isn't exactly fun, but I hear that's normal for a .22 can.

So should I get another it'll be the Switchback just to compare.
