So picked up a modx-9 as my first suppressor…would it be safe to clean it with an ultrasonic cleaner, or should it be done by hand? Don’t want to damage it in any way. Thanks "No more 'I have to go to the bathroom'. There is no bathroom!!"

It's titanium--you can use ultrasonic. Typically the blast baffle and piston get lots of carbon build up. I use Slip 2000 Carbon Cutter for soaking. Quick bath in ultrasonic if NOT aluminum. Search the silicon oil treatment on Sig Forum for pre treatment. Use High temp anti-seize on piston threads and 1st baffle.

X10!! Just tried it on my Obsidian 9. Though I only had a couple of hundred rounds through it, about a 2hr soak dissolved the buildup on the baffles - even the blast baffle! They all look new.

Much appreciated. I will try that first and go from there. Cleaned it by hand today…super time consuming so hoping there is a better way "No more 'I have to go to the bathroom'. There is no bathroom!!"

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner then I wouldn't bother except in unusual circumstances with any of the carbon cutters in advance. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
