CCI Subsonic .22LR Ammo
So bought a brick of this on an impulse buy, it effectively makes my 10/22 a bolt action rifle. Numerous failures to cycle the action and ended up with a stuck unfired round in the chamber. Didn’t have a cleaning rod with me so that ended the range session before I could function check the ammo in the rifle without the suppressor. Rifle is a 10/22 Takedown, stock except for a Summit Precision barrel. Suppressor is a Q El Camino. The same ammo ran 100% with the suppressor on my Ruger 22/45.

The rifle has run fine on everything I have tried so far and run fine with the suppressor using CCI Standard and CCI Subsonic ammo. Wondering if I should try the Volquartsen firing pin kit which includes different powered springs or just write that ammo off for use in the rifle.

Thanks for the report. (See why a multisegment cleaning rod should be in every range bag? Wink )

The ammunition’s failure to cycle an autoloader wouldn’t surprise me too much, but I’m curious about the extraction problem. According to the ’net those barrels are somewhat tighter than the factory versions. That plus a slightly out-of-spec round could have caused the stoppage—?

When was the last time you gave it a good cleaning? .22LR + Can = Filthy gun, and quick.

The barrel does have a Bentz chamber which is kind of the middle ground between a standard and a match chamber. The rim on the jammed case has no markings so I’m wondering if the bolt didn’t fully close on it.

I’ve run the CCI subsonic on multiple .22 semi-auto pistols and a .22 MP5 without any issues.

I shoot a lot of that through both my 10/22 and my 22/45. No issues as long as the guns are clean. After a couple hundred rounds the chambers get gunked up and I start having failures to go into battery. In a way it's a good thing. It's my reminder to go chisel all the gunk out of my suppressor baffles. 22LR is a hoot to shoot suppressed, it's filthy though.

NEVER had a problem with it in a clean UNMODIFIED weapon.
