Just a reminder for our newer members- anyone registering on or after March 22nd of this year does not have permissions to view member profiles. This, in conjunction with the cautioning by our Classifieds team and the advice to all members to refrain from doing business with anyone who will not post in their ad, seems to have quite the effect on the desire of these insects to hang around here.

If you are contacted by one of these parasites, feel free to string them out with a dozen or so emails before you disappear on them. Waste their time. Don't be obvious about it, though. I assure you that these low-life thieves are reading this.

The ability to not worry about hurting feelings and calling bullshit or calling when something at least smells like shit is a great contributor in my opinion.

I call out everyone I see and no one to date has gotten butt hurt that I know of.

The work members have been doing lately is really making it hard it seems.

My guess is somebody was in the clinic for a checkup and hopped on an unlocked PC to register. The email address remained unverified, because it was either bogus (my guess) or they simply didn't get to their email in time.

Though we have made much progress in ridding ourselves of thieving filth it's important that we do not become complacent.

If a deal seems too good to be true, it's almost a certainty that it's a scam.

A concern of mine is scammers adapting to the changes we've made and the caution being exercised. One possibility is that we have some of these thieves using the "long con" by giving the appearance that they are trustworthy by seeming to have several successful transactions in Classifieds. Be very careful, and please do not hesitate to report any concerns to me.

These insects will never go away completely and you should never let your guard down.

Could someone with enough time and skills break through. Probably so. There are plenty of easier and more rewarding opportunities elsewhere so that's where they go.

I just received an email from the detective in Phoenix handling this case. He says he interviewed the turd and his stories did not jive. Problem is this guy is 79 years old and the county attorney may not prosecute unless a few more come forward. Every victim/witness helps to assure he will not pick up where he left off. He is well aware that the DA may not prosecute so he goes silent for a few months, hits a new forum, but same MO. He needs to be held accountable. If any of you are on any other forums that Mr. Spector may have pulled the same scam please reach out to the members or give me the lead to do so via PM. I am 72 so I have no sympathy for this guy. He knows exactly what he is doing and flaunting it.

I'll say, Para's 3/22/22 new member Profile page viewing restriction really did cut down on scamming assholes. I posted a WTB on here and elsewhere recently. Over there, I just got a PM (without posting in the ad) from a new member asking me to text him at 702-209-0014. Red flag went up immediately, so I did some digging on the number, and that punk has been scamming folks on other gun boards.

I stumbled across this thread while researching someone who’s actually mentioned in this thread. I’ve been absent for a while but I’ve been a member pushing 15 years. Apparently, I’ve lost permissions while I was away. I can’t even do a member search to sleuth this person out. Thankfully, I didn’t lose my join date but, I feel like I’ve been sent to the back of the line. I don’t want to throw this individual out there until I’m sure one way or the other that they’re a scammer.

All of your permissions are intact. What you can't do is access the Member Directory. This access was revoked for all members several years ago, when I discovered that scammers were using the directory to find and access dormant user accounts.
