Carrying a larger fixed blade
My EDC is a Kershaw Scallion and it serves the purpose perfectly.
I picked up a Kobun on the recommendations here, but really don't see an effective way to carry it discretely.
Thought about it as a boot knife, mostly when I had a motorcycle & it would be 'more' accessible, but takes too much effort to access, with how high the handle sits once in place. Have to practically roll the pants leg up to the knee to get to it.

Even tried carrying it on my waist at the ranch OWB, and it's still inconvenient.

Anyone carry a 'larger' fixed blade with any regularity?

I've got a couple of Lon Humphrey fixed blades in the 5ish inch range I carry a bit, but around here no one bats an eye at a fixed blade unless its nearly sword length.

When I'm camping I might have something a bit bigger, especially if I'm justifying why I bought a kukri to my wife...

I have a Buck "Thug", somewhere around a seven inch effective blade length. 5160 spring steel blade material, micarta scales. It's one of the Buck/Ron Hood collaboration series.

On the belt in the conventional knife carry position, it's long. I found a Kydex knife sheath maker that sells an across the body sheath. The sheath crosses across in front of your body from hip bone to hip bone, and on top of your belt buckle/belt. It attaches to your belt with two leather straps, with four directional snaps. My sheath was tight on the knife draw, and after consulting with the maker, I lightly filed the Kydex that squeezes/grips the knife blade until I was satisfied with the draw/retention. It's a nice sheath, and it allows carrying a pretty large knife very unobtrusively.
With a light jacket/windbreaker, it's practically invisible. Smile

I bought a Kydex sheath from here: https://armorsheaths.com/

You will have to see if he makes a sheath for your knife.

I also have a Buck "Hoodlum" with a slightly longer than ten inch blade. 5160 spring steel blade material, micarta scales. Another in the Buck/Ron Hood collaboration.
It's too long for almost any type of on body carry. I use it occasionally much like a machete, and it is inside the cab on a side by side, and used to chop brush/small limbs on my
trail system at the recreational property. I have carried it several times on a belt rig, but it reaches down to almost the knee.

Never carried larger than a four-inch blade, as I prefer cross-draw and have had a few of 3.5" blades as my choice for "concealed carry."

However, I have often had the itch for a Kukri or machete for knocking down the weeds out in back.
