Naw dawg it's the Leek.

I love the Leek and carried for awhile but found it a little too dainty, especially out at the tip, for some things I wanted to do. Switched to the Kershaw Link 1776 for EDC.

The size, assisted open, and quality all make it an easy everywhere knife for me. I have larger tougher things if needed. The Leek is more than enough blade to actually kill someone, if it came to that, as well.

For EDC I like compact, which is also why this is perfect: Streamlight Microstream

I find the leek slipery. Kershaws Blur is much grippier for my fat fingers, and I like the throw better as well.

The Leek is my carry knife at work. The small size is really an advantage. Mine is also a partially serrated blade for cutting through webbing, etc.

I've got a Scallion & a Chive

The Scallion is my EDC, and the Chive is for light shorts carry.

For me, the Scallion was the Goldilocks 'just right' size.

I like that the Leek is one of the made in USA ones.

I've always liked it for opening boxes and poking things.

That said, my son grabbed one with a relatively new/sharp tanto blade last season to skin a cottontail. Admittedly not the best tool for that, but it was nearby. It got the job done, but we were not overly impressed by the blade's performance.

I recently retired my Leek from the EDC rotation (after probably 4-5 years) basically because I found it heavier than it needed to be. (I've mostly replaced it with a Bailout--no assist like the Leek, but the Leek isn't an auto anyway..)

Honestly, if you want to skin an animal with any EDC, you might be asking too much. Blades expected to do everything, don't do anything perfectly. That's true of guns, girlfriends, and other appliances.

I want a blade I can sharpen, if it's EDC. I want it to be able to open anything, including people.

I have large hands, and the Leek is as small as I can comfortably go, but oh boy can I hang onto it.

I've carried and still have a bunch of other knives, spyderco, sebenza, gerber, dozier, HAK, probably others I forget. Much bigger and I'll just carry a fixed blade.

I think an EDC needs to hit everything right in the middle, including if you simply lose it or have to give it to the TSA.

Some of my most informative times have been watching an old timer gut and skin a deer with an actual Old Timer.

The Leek is a great poker but doesn't have any belly, or else you could skin a deer with it, too.

I need to pick up another one (I seem to have lost mine) bc it is a great little knife.

Unless I mean to reenact Silence of the Lambs, skinning things isn't in my "daily use" category for knife work. I wouldn't ask more than "general purpose" from it, but it'll sure open people.

That pocket clip is mint, but I had to re-learn not to turn the knife...

the Leek would be my EDC if I carried a flipper, but my Izula is just so thin, the only thing I might do is get the stainless one.
