I wasn't sure if anyone was tracking this knife. It's a great traditional pattern made with modern materials and screw construction (which I prefer to pinned). The liners and bolsters are titanium, blade steel is M390 (huge fan of this steel). These went up for pre-order earlier this year and just arrived to buyers a few weeks ago. Scale materials available were: abalone, stag, carbon fiber, wood, and ram horn. I snagged stag and ram horn.

The Benchmade 319 Proper is another good knife of this type but I think the LionSteel is a better value. They are within a few dollars in price depending upon scale material but the titanium and M390 on the Rounhead make it a heck of a knife for the price.

I recommend checking one out if you can. They are available exclusively through CollectorKnives.net

Half.

Seems the abalone is all that is left.

I just grabbed a rams horn (last one maybe?). Thanks! My first traditional knife. Looking forward to receiving it.

I preordered a rams horn back in Jan or Feb when they were first offered. It's been riding in my left front pocket ever since it came.

Hopefully the images are displaying now. There should be five.

I ditched Photobucket after they lost their minds recently. I switched to Google Photos but started running into issues over the past few days with images not displaying randomly. After testing several other image hosting options I think I found one that will work for me.

There's a lot to like about this one:

  • The fit/finish is good
  • The blade is sandwiched between phosphor bronze washers
  • There is a closed stop pin
  • The screw construction allows for tightening up the knife and easy customizing
  • The materials are premium (titanium, M390 blade)
  • The price is reasonable for what you're getting

I love all of my Chris Reeve, Zero Tolerance, Hinderer, Spyderco, Benchmade, etc. knives but a knife like this is really all most of us will ever need. However, don't expect to see my others up for sale Big Grin

Was that a one off run, or are they planning more? I'd love to get one of the carbon fiber or wood scales ones.

Mike's having another run made in both clip & spearpoint. It looks like the expected delivery dates will be Dec or Jan. Probably about the only way you can be assured of getting one is to sign up for Early Reserve at www.collectorknives.net. These knives are an excellent example of a classic, time tested design; made with modern materials.

Those Lionsteel Barlows are really nice. Great knives from Italy.

I just reserved a clip point in natural micarta. I was considering having micarta scales made for one mine but for a few dollars more I can just get a whole new knife.

The LionSteel are beautiful knives, but I love the blade shape of the Benchmades. I might have to get both!

If you can only get one go for the LionSteel but I think an example of each is worth owning.
