A question about aftermarket SpyderCo scales
Good morning,

I have a SpyderCo Smock with factory scales and I would like to replace the carbon fiber scales with an aftermarket metal set such as the Meton Boss titanium FRAG but I am unfamiliar with this manufacture or any other company. Can anyone offer any recommendations?

There are the scales I a, looking at:

I'm not personally familiar with Meton Boss, but searching a very large knife forum I saw a bunch of references to them - nothing negative. Would take that as a plus.

Couple links below among many, Ripp's Garage Tech in particular have seen a lot of positive feedback on their stuff.

Both Metonboss and Ripps make nice scales, just depends what you are looking for.

Just a heads up when you disassemble your Smock, watch some YouTube videos before you start. It has a secondary detent ball which you want to be aware of, or you'll probably never see it again. It's a common mod to just remove it, as it makes it easier to deploy.

I have some Ripp's fat carbon scales on my Smock, and a few other knives with Ripp's scales.

I appreciate the information about the spring. I had debated sending the Smock to MetonBoss to have them install the scales because I have the new version with the enlarged pivot and, I assume, this means the scales will need to me modified to fit.
