Talk me out of a Benchmade
Buck Knives recently came out with a series using the axis lock both large and smaller size and available in FRN style scales or aluminum.

This particular knife felt very good in my hand and has solid midrange D2 steel. For $32.95 it’s well worth a try. If it’s not just right you can always give it to your Brother in Law for Christmas. (Like I did!)

Basically a Griptilion, the same knife as when Benchmade made them. The mini RSK is my every day carry.

That Doug Ritter with Magnacut looks like an excellent knife if you can afford $200. You can spend a lot more than that for lesser knives.........DJ

It arrived today. Something in the hinge area rattles. It goes away when the knife is opened. I think it is the cross bar lock. Does anybody else have a rattle?

It’s the stop pin. A bit of loctite or silicone will stop that. Nice knife everyone. Thanks for the suggestions.

Good choice. You mentioned Buck 110 but too heavy. For a back up beater Buck makes the 110 Bucklite with a thumb stud. It’s a sturdy knife. Also another cheap option for a beater is the $10 knock off bugout knife at walmart. Ozark trail brand.

Talk you out of buying a benchmade? Well, they make exellent knives. But they are anti-gun. So I say f** them. You do what you want. I had 9 Benchmades, sold 2 of the HK versions, and I won't buy another.

They are part of the problem. We need to support the solution. Click a few links upthread.

I have had a bunch of Benchmade knives and sold a bunch off. Probably still have a half dozen with 2 left in my carry rotation. I did the same thing with Leatherman. Sometimes the tool is either better than the competition or fits my specific needs more closely. Unfortunately, that blurs the lines I do not want to cross intentionally and I find myself in a moral dilemma. I have bought a Benchmade as well as some Leatherman products since I swore off of them.

I have two Benchmade knives, both are good knives. Both of mine are automatics purchased before it was made public that they lean left politically.

I gave thought to that when all of this was fresh, not just with Benchmade but with other brands that have proven not to live up to expectations as well. I decided if it's a good product that I already own and use, I'll continue to use it. I don't have enough money to replace good tools on a whim. I won't buy anything new from them though. The damage is already done, but I can absolutely ensure they don't receive any money from me going forward.

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

But but but, it’s the official knife of astronauts and moon travelers. lol.

I hate they did what they did and the stupidity to post/brag about it was ill advised. I suppose it’s good to know people’s true leanings.

That being said, I have a bunch of their knives and they are exemplary in design and execution. Except of course that early shitty assisted opening knife of theirs that used that goofy spring bar. Ugh. What a POS.

I didn't know that. Did they bring some Black Rifle coffee too?

My thoughts as well.
