Who made the ones labeled Condor? I love mine from Kailash. It makes a hell of a machete. ![]() ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Condor blades are fine, if that's all I had, but the recurve into the ricasso is a little too severe. Makes for a weird striking angle. Just my taste and you might be fine with it. I wouldn't hesitate to order another Kailash, though. ____________ Pace

Yea...I bought mine after Alan Kay's run on the first season of Alone. Never could get used to that angle though. Always felt like the belly was hitting way too soon. How do you like the Block? ____________ Pace

A clip of kukri training with British forces. https://youtu.be/wqJZcpysSzg?si=0YlfEVeC2m3dJyhF I have put off buying a kukri for 25 years. Time to get on it. I've got a HI Villager that I've abused for a decade. It's beat up, stained, and ugly. It's hacked up brush, sheetrock, small tree limbs, and at least one brick that got in the way. The thing is an absolute tank. On the better-looking end of the spectrum, I've got a Kailash Blades Historical Service that is just too pretty for me to abuse, even though I deliberately bought it for that very purpose. They also made me an absolute beast of a bowie. I always wanted a few more HIs. I was sad to see they shut down the end of last year.

My HI Ang Kola (1st photo) is my "yard work" kukri. Beat up, stained, ugly, with a hockey taped handle, a beast that cuts anything and everything I need it to. Sad to see them go too. I ordered my first HI from Uncle Bill years ago and many more from Auntie after that. Certainly, the end of an era. ____________ Pace

Yeah I agree about the belly, but I use it around the property perimeter trimming branches and it swings well and cuts like a SOB. The Block Sharpener is pretty good in my opinion. I have it in my work coat pocket for a quick touch up and it does the job, is cheap enough, and cleans up quickly. I was cutting pine branches and the knife and sharpener were gummed up with that pine tar goo, A quick spray of WD40 and sit for 5 mins they just wiped off clean.

The Kukri looks like a fun knife, although of very limited use IMO. Of course, there is nothing like a fine machete for some cutting of branches or brush. The movie "Machete" is a scary darned thing and I hate to watch more than a few minutes.
