If you've got $250 burning a hole in your pocket, this is the best Leatherman to date IMO. For years I've carried a Charge TTi as I felt that it was the best tool they had. Mine has been getting a little long in the tooth and I got to looking to see what new/better offerings they have and the Arc popped up. Ridiculously high price for a multi-tool, and I suspect that it is because of the new magnacut steel for the knife blade, but I bit the bullet and ordered one. Happy I did. This is one very nice tool.

I agree. $150 would be reasonable. $250 is a bit silly. If they'd drop the price they'd more than make up for it in volume.

Ironic in that if I could give up one thing from a multi tool in exchange for another useful tool, it would be the knife blade.

I always have one or three knives on me, the last thing I need is another knife blade. Give me another file, or something I can use. I have a (now) old Wave, two blades and I never use them. Waste of space.

Wave + was the best compromise for me. I wouldn’t pay what they want for the Arc. I carry it in an old school leatherman leather case. Got it on amazon for $25. I love it! Very compact.

Yeah, that Wave+ is pretty nice, especially for the money. I have no use for a serrated blade though, and I do really like having the tools on the outside. Is it worth double the money? No, but I like it. Size wise, it’s essentially the same size as my previous Charge. It fits in the same leather sheath/holster that I made for it way back when. On my ever expanding list of things to do is to make a new one for this one.

I can't think of an instance when I've said to myself, "I can't cut that because I don't have a serrated blade.". Sure, they may get through some things like hemp rope a little better, but a sharp straight blade works just fine and always has for me for anything that needs cut.

The way they designed this was nice IMO. Just one blade, and it has a post on it so that you know without having to look that you are opening the blade. With my old Charge, I can't say how many times I'd have to stop what I was doing, look down, open a knife, close it because it was the serrated blade, flip it over, and open the straight blade. It was a pain in the butt. Problem solved. Having a good set of scissors (that I use alot) on there in place of the serrated blade serves me much better.

Life has a way of surprising you, but in your case, call the factory and insist they remove that blade that you simply cannot imagine needing.

Leatherman has been dead to me since Tim Leatherman endorsed John Kerry for President.
Too many other producers to bother with that company.

Dang I didn't know that was a thing. Shame I bought what, like 1 since then? Or not? Bummer of a grudge guy.

I used to have a leatherman on my belt. I still have one in the car and in my suitcase with me on my trip to Australia and Asia, along with an opinel knife.

But it was maybe 10 years doing office work that I never had to pull out my leatherman except to fix someone’s loose screw on their eyeglasses. I stopped wearing one on my belt.

$250 does sound a bit too much unless you use it often enough.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual."
