Fire begets Fire |
Funny enough, a file knife is a great project for anyone interested in making their own knife. No tools realy needed other than your charcoal grill, and a vise and some files. Anneal in the grill (might use a hair dryer/blower to get heat up) - air cool or better slow cool in some sand/vermiculite), now it's soft enough to work the metal and shape (drill pin holes, etc.), back in the grill for HT and quench. Temper as needed and finish. Super easy and rewarding project. Our very own Dozer has done some great file knives in the past. They're just cool. Hell, is other people! J-P S

I like seeing a female knife maker that seems to get her hands dirty. That said, those designs need a lot more refinement for $800.
