A couple Microtechs
Last week some customers got together and threw me a surprise birthday party and gifted me these Microtechs. I’ve never had an OTF and am really liking it. The stonewash has become my EDC while the Damascus will stay a safe queen. Anything in particular I should look out for on maintenance?

What ab awesome gift.

Currently, I am seeing just an ad, no knife pictures.

As for maintenance, I have just followed the instructions that came with the knife. A little oil and some compressed air should be all you need to do to keep it in great shape.

Great OTF's to start your new collection.

Congrats! Pic link is toast. Don’t use just any oil, Microtech says Remoil or nothing. It’s because it’s incredibly thin. More viscous oils will cause the action to misfire. I bought a tri wing tool on Amazon and use it to take mine apart, clean out the lint and crud, give a real thin application of oil, and reassemble. You can mostly get away with blowing them out with compressed air, but eventually, they’ll need to be taken apart and cleaned.

Yep, this right here. Blow them out with air, add rem oil, cycle a few times, blow the rem oil out with more air, good for another month or so.

Congrats, I always thought Microtechs and OTFs in general seemed cool, but you used to not be able to carry them in PA so without any real function I never so much as touched one. A few months back, while waiting on a transfer at an local gun shop I was peeking at the knife display when an employee offered to let me play with one and I was hooked instantly. Once he explained that the law changed a few years back and they were now legal to carry I knew I was done for. The Hera II mini has been my EDC at work for a couple of months now and I love it.

Oh, nice! Cyphers are damned cool, and you got a Signature Series in copper Damascus, looks like. Those are very nice! I have one signature series Ultratech, and it is far smoother than my others. Supposedly that series gets polished nickel boron sliders. Been meaning to take it apart and have a look, or at least work over a few of my others with some Flitz and see how close I can get, but it’s definitely noticeable.

Yes it is a copper wash Damascus. The picture detail degrades on postimage. I can tell the signature series is smoother also. The standard is pretty smooth though.

This is a little pricey at $18 for a one ounce bottle but it is an amazing lube for knives, is great on my OTF Phaeton.
