Cat I’ve had for 16 years. Found a mass in his stomach in March. He’s too far gone for the meds to give him any quality of life. Just let him go a few minutes ago. He’s finally back with his dog.

They bring such a great feeling just watching them. It’s a big hurt, especially losing 2 pals.
Will ya get another or still hurting too much? Best to ya.

I really sympathize with you, Leemur. I had a 13 year old cat that was my shadow and we had to let him go a couple months ago due to a large inoperable tumor in his intestines. We miss him a lot.

Well, I’m not even joking when I say my wife’s nickname is Ellie Mae Clampett. This woman is all about the furry little critters. We still have two indoor/outdoor cats, two barn cats, a raccoon, two possums, two dogs and every single stray within 10 miles finds its way to her. Max was one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever been around and Saber thought that lazy smelly area rug was his mother. Max has been gone about 6 years and Saber tried to get that affection from the other two dogs but it just wasn’t the same.

To a decent person, pets are family, genuine family, and losing them is like losing family. Sometimes, it's even worse. That's the truth.

The thing we have to hold on to after they're gone is that we cared from them, loved them, protected them from harm and gave them a home, and that is not nothing. A given species of dog or cat, a given breed, will have an average lifespan, always shorter than that of humans. For a cat, sixteen years is a pretty good run. You did your best.
