iCloud for posting photos on SigForum?
I pay 99¢/mo for iCloud, with a lot more storage than I currently need. I see that it has a facility to make selected photos publicly viewable. Does anyone here use iCloud for posting photos on SigForum?

Another photo-hosting site, ImageShack, has an interesting capability: you can put full resolution photos on it, then make specific photos available to others with some specific lower resolution, say 640 x 480 pixels. It isn’t necessary to upload the lower resolution photos – neat! Does iCloud have that facility too?

I can't answer you iCloud question, but I'll echo that ImageShacks flexibility in size and link type has been wonderful for me.

Flickr does that too.

Yep. As a paid subscriber to Flickr I've been using them a lot.

As does SmugMug.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

There was one time when you could host images with an Apple cloud service - 15+ years ago? But 'sharing' iCloud photos is different than hosting photos for web use.

You can 'share' an image with an unconnected cell number, email or SMS, and see what you get. You will be viewing the image on a browser window, which is different than placing a linked image within your text content of this forum.

Not an expert by any means, but I would have lots of concerns about giving strangers access in any form to my iCloud photo account. If you use a third party host, they are isolating you from that.

unconnected cell number

You bet, Smoke. The "unconnected cell number", I meant a phone which is not on an iCloud account. So you see the link as a non-Appleite will see it.

Sharing an iCloud folder only makes a particular group of images public, just as if you have a public folder of images on photobucket or dropbox or other hosting service. No passwords are given or required. The folder is not editable.

I have five wordpress.com accounts, two for active blogs, one for avatars, and two in a holding pattern. So I routinely drag batches of sized images into their media folder for hosting. A group of same-subject images will all have the same name except for adding 1, 2, 3, etc. Makes C/P the images into a post, like a classified post, easy, because I can paste the same URL and only rename the last digit.

Like this knife I just sold. Check out the URL naming protocal:

The knife has been sold; I was avoiding Classified-Crossover-Content, the dreaded CCC, in the Lounge forum. Pointing out the naming protocol within batch uploads. Here are the full URLs (I like #9 best).
