Good God Bean ! Think of how many (more) guns you could have had instead.

Nice work!

Another vote for John Lobb.

Having a good pair of shoes goes a long way.

Somewhere along the line I heard something like "look at a man's shoes - they tell you where he's been and where he's going."

At one time, I had 5 Allen Edmunds that I rotate through. All five were the same or similar model. I loved making them shine. I took a pair to just replace the first layer on the heel at a shoe repair shop at the mall. The mexican workers recognized it was good leather and put a shine on it.

I've only had to have maybe 3 of them reburbed at the factory.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

There are a couple pairs that each are worth more than a higher end AR-15. A few pairs not posted, one of which would have bought a SCAR 17S.

If I was to take the money wasted on cars, clothes, tobacco and alcohol...

Yeah, let’s keep talking about shoes. Smile

I have a couple of Allen Edmonds dress shoes that I wear only to Church or to weddings and funerals. They are in fine shape, and havent needed the trip back to the factory due to the very little wear and tear I have put on them. Other times, I wear Redback(Australian made) slip-on boots, and now that winter is almost here, I wear my original Doc Maartens boots( pairs that were actually made in England, purchased around 1996-1997) with heavy woolen socks. I am afraid that one pair of Doc Maartens boots need the soles replaced, and I dont know if anyone can do it. The local cobbler ( the cobbler's shop is run by a pair of 2 lesbians who are wife and wife!!! Smile ) told me to throw them away and just get a new pair, cuz they cant resole them!!!!
Do you guys know of any place who might be able to resole Doc Maartens boots, seems they have an injection molded sole.
Thanks.

And I sold my 2 pairs of older Allen Edmonds shoes on ebay, got a good price for them, which funded a pair of new Allen Edmonds shoes in the style I like.

When I was little, my granddad owned a general store in a small town in Mississippi. Next to his store was a cobbler (that's a shoe guy right ?) and I would go over and watch him work sometimes. (stayed with Gdad for months each summer)

Talk about sharp knives - that guy had some. Amazing to watch him cut through thick slabs of leather without any trouble at all.

I’m not sure where Wolverine land is, but I’m assuming Michigan. Most Docs are a Goodyear welt. I can’t imagine a made in England pair being injection molded. Post a pic of them!

Check this place out: http://www.parkshoerepair.com/

Looking at their site gives me hope for your plight. By the shoes I see, and the polishes they carry, they know what they’re doing.if they can resole a Louboutin high heel, and have access to the red soles, a pair of Docs will be a walk in the park.

A real violinmaker apprenticeship might start with a solid month of learning how to put a really sharp edge on a piece of metal.
