So my truck battery is starting to die, tried charging it by driving it around and tried to charge it with a battery charger but it doesn't seem to hold a charge so time for a new battery. Truck is a 2010 Tundra so just asking for recommendations for good battery. Pep Boys, Autozone, Walmart and Advance are the auto parts stores in my neck of the woods where I can buy a battery.

I don't need the most expensive powerful battery known to man nor the cheapest just something in between that's going to last 5 years.

Thr Walmart EverStart batteries work just fine. I have one in my Jeep right now.

AutoZone will give you a core credit if you buy from them. Or if you drop off/dispose of your old battery with AutoZone they will give you a $10 gift card for it.

I just got a new battery 5 days ago, 2017 Silverado, original battery still. I had a check engine light for a day, then went away.

My ‘code reader’ was showing a few ‘low voltage’ indications, then a component that required proper voltage to work. The truck started mostly normal, but don’t want to push it going into cold season. 7.5 years is good, the internet gives 5 years towards the top end.

I went to Walmart, planned to change it myself, brought in a ‘core’. They said ‘no wait’, so I let them put it in. I did a slight upgrade with the conventional’Maxx’ battery, they had maybe 3-4 that would fit.

Most of our Walmart batteries are made by Johnson Controls, other places or Sam’s Club can be East Penn. I’d rather have East Penn, but Johnson Controls usually serves me well.

Of the stores that you mentioned that are convenient to you, Walmart is probably the best choice. Another one to consider is Costco, if you're a member and if there's a location near you.

I just picked up an AGM Interstate for my Ram at Costco a few weeks ago. Best deal I could find anywhere and I got a generous core refund.

I would agree with above that Walmart would be best choice near you.

I've used both AutoZone and Walmart. Both work fine. AutoZone will test your old one, give you a core credit, and install the new one while you wait.

I installed a new WalMart EverStart Maxx 34N Battery in my Jeep almost exactly three years ago. No problems. It will probably outlast its guarantee just like the last EverStart did.

Rural King has best battery prices in my area.

Walmart for price, availability, and warranty. I’ve been states away and I can always find a Walmart store to warranty the battery.

Their top end AGM now has a 4 year full replacement warranty, which as far as I know is the best in the industry.

I just bought a new truck battery this morning and now see this thread.

I buy my batteries from Oreilly Auto and I just buy your basic battery. I bought the last one in July 2019.

My alternator just went out and driving home the battery went dead. I have a new alternator on order to install, but went to buy a new battery this morning so I can roll my windows up.

Yep. Everstart Maxx are my go-to for vehicle batteries. Not only good price and good quality, but also if you have issues within the warranty period it's usually easy to find a Walmart nearby, no matter where you are.

They're made by Johnson Controls/Clarios. Same as most of the big name car batteries.

I just put an Everstart Maxx in my car a few days ago.

Project Farm did a video on car batteries a few years back and for standard lead acid, the Everstart Maxx from Walmart was the best value and performed better than more expensive ones.

Check the dealer. A couple/few years back the Toyota dealer here had the best deal going when I needed one for a Sienna.

That's very surprising, considering every time I've priced a battery at a dealership, it has been around 3x the cost of elsewhere.

Basic wear items like batteries, wipers, and air filters are wildly overpriced at dealerships.

The biggest Interstate that will fit.

We have a couple good battery, starter, alternator places locally so I go there.

Otherwise, WalMart or Costco.

My battery search lead me to Walmart for the same reasons. Car batteries are like AR15 stripped lowers. Only a handful of companies make them and are simply rebranded.

I buy all my batteries at Walmart partly because of ease of warranty. If I travel to Mi from Texas they will warranty no problem. Back in the late 80's I bought a battery from Western Auto before moving to Texas, once here needed warranty work and they refused saying the stores are locally owned/franchised. Left and went to Walmart and been a fanboy since.

I was a Napa guy for batteries for years. They changed the manufacturer and the warranty and suddenly they only lasted 18-24mos in this Orlando, FL heat and humidity. I now go to Batteries Plus. I've had great service from their batteries with the heat/humidity we have and the warranty is 3yrs on the Duracell batteries they sell.

I wouldn't even consider buying a Toyota battery because everything at dealerships is always double or triple what you'd pay anywhere else but not necessarily better.
