As a native Okie, I've had the misfortune of having to drive into Texas on occasion and have witnessed all kinds of wildlife including armadillos, rattlesnakes, jack rabbits and road runners but this would have surprised even me Big Grin

Texas drivers got the shock of their lives when they saw a kangaroo hopping along their road.

Driver Kim Zapata was riding along County Road 321 in Texas Wednesday morning when she saw the Australian creature.

Zapata filmed the kangaroo as it sped down the road, jumping ahead of her car in Sweeny.

'Is that a kangaroo... dude this is a kangaroo. I've never seen a real life kangaroo!' she says in the video.

The hilarious clip entitled 'This is no Peter Cotton Tail' sees the animal hop in front of her car following the path of the road.

When Zapata drives next to it and tries to catch its attention, the creature does not seem bothered.

The bizarre sighting of the foreign creature in the US and nowhere near an exotic zoo, has locals scratching their heads.

'If an animal out of its habitation can survive out here, you know God must have love and mercy for all of us,' Zapata added.

After local news outlets aired the shocking video, a family near Austin called the local ABC station saying their kangaroo named Izzy went missing last November.

However this kangaroo was spotted more than 200 miles away.

The family is working with Brazoria County authorities to locate the free kangaroo who they hope is Izzy and bring her home safely.

That's a wallaby, mate.

WTF, did it escape from a neighborhood confine or released into the wild as it was no longer a cute joey?

Can it survive? Very likely ...

I was thinking compared to the Outback, kangaroos might consider Texas a nice getaway.
