A couple of months ago, someone posted a number for Sirius to get past all the crap and deal with a somewhat knowledgeable sales person. I accessed the search function, but can't come up with that thread. Anyone know the "backdoor" number?

1-866-236-2937 Tell that person you want to cancel and they'll send you to a "Closer" that will try to get you to stay. worked for me, YMMV.

What's the lowest price that closer will offer? I am in the last week of my free trial from my new car purchase and really like it. But I don't want to pay a dime more than I have to.

I don’t know what they can do for you but, mine expired a while back from a new vehicle purchase like . Was getting all these flyers to come back and we will hook you up for $5 a month for six months. I held off then they offered $5 a month for a year. I took advantage of that.

Give them a call and push that idea. Good luck.

Just be aware that the $5/mo isn’t really $5/mo because they still charge a royalty fee or som such thing on top of it. That adds a few more $$/mo and you pay for the 6mo or year upfront and have to give them a card # for auto renewal after the period is up.

Also they might not give you the deal if you are still active. I’ve always had to either cancel or expire before they would give me the deal. Total pain in the ass. I’ve been without it in the truck for about 4 months now. I still have it in the Mustang and also have the streaming so in the truck I just stream through the car audio system.

Now that they are offering the bargain price for a year instead of just 6 months I may go ahead and renew for the convenience. I have unlimited data, but the app can be a little glitchy at times.

I’ve danced many times with the XM folks...

I pay $36.49 for 6 months, all fees included. It's a promotional rate that I've had for 5-6 years. A bit of song and dance as I have to call before the subscription ends and tell them I'm cancelling unless I can get the deal. They always offer $99 a year but I refuse saying it's only worth $5 a month and they always agree up til now.

I hate haggling with them every year but if you want the service you have to otherwise you're getting ripped off. I just got a bill for $236 for 1 year for full access. Did the yearly song and dance with them and got it down to $100 for the year full access with digital streaming to all my devices for free.

Call up, tell anyone you get on the line that you want to cancel and you'll go straight to a person who can deal. Depending how hard you push back the deal will keep getting better and better. Depends how much time you want to spend. For me $100 plus free streaming was good enough. I agree with the poster that said it's only worth $5 a month and got that deal, good for you! Also, don't let them auto renew. That gives you a chance to negotiate before they charge your card.

Although I have not had this rate as long as you, I do the same thing. It works every 6 months, I even ask the sales guy to start at the bottom of the rate structure, they don't like it but it works!

I used the standard number and had no trouble. There was no begging me to stay or lengthy hold times. I think it's ridiculous you can't cancel from the website, but that's the game they play.

I have been doing the same dance for the past 4 years. I ask them the expiration date and put that into my phone a day earlier. Once I get the alert I call them up and "negotiate" the same rate and renew.

It was my post about dealing with their overseas "Customer Service".
This supposedly ( I have not called it yet)is their US based, by God, English speaking Customer Service number:
866-267-7234
And negotiate. They will give you a deal. I am at 11 bucks a month.

Thanks all - this is the info I was looking for! I don't have a lot of options for radio here in rural Nebraska - I do like several Sirius channels - but only if the cost is reasonable. I will go after the $60 for 12 month plan.

Based upon the earlier posting a few months back I negotiated $8.33/month for a 1 year term. This forum has cost me LOTS of money over the years but in this case it saved me over $100!
