2nd the Eagle Safety cans. I’ve seen fire professionals light the nozzle on fire and it burns like a bunsen burner. I was totally sold after that. Now, I don’t recommend trying that for testing…

If you aren’t going Wavian, then it has to be either Eagle or Justrite. If you’re going to pony up for a Type I, you might as well go all the way and get a Type II. The only reason to get a type I is because somebody gave it to you. Type II cans are simply the cat’s pajamas.

I prefer Justrite over Eagle, FWIW.

I Used VP Racing gas cans when I was racing and they worked great. They make a 3 gallon version as shown below and coupled with the long flexible spout it’s easy to use and reasonably priced.
