Yes, I know I am a puss for using a gas grill, but at my age time is money. Turned out to be no big deal. The crap came out easy and the new parts I had ordered fit well. Flame guard collapsed that week and I knew I had to do the deed.
Hopefully no more flare-ups for a while.

I don't blame you. Gas grill can be ready to cook on in minutes but a charcoal grill will take 30 minutes with a charcoal chimney. Long day at work and you don't want to wait 30 minutes before you can cook so gas grill it is.

While I much prefer the flavor charcoal imparts, I'm not passing up food cooked on a gas grill.

I use gas for burgers and charcoal for steaks. Don’t be ashamed, each tool for its design
