Could anyone suggest a website to purchase prescription computer glasses? I'll only be wearing them at home, so I don't care what they look like. I'm looking for the cheapest domestic option that protects my eyes. Thanks!

https://www.zennioptical.com is one.

I ordered a pair of glasses from them. Sent them back because I had specified no tint and they had a yellowish tint.

They said that this was their no-tint lens (bullshit, they had a definite tint).

They offered full credit for exchange or 50% refund. No point in exchanging, I wanted a clear lens with no tint, so I went with the 50% refund. Kind of pissed me off, and I would not deal with them again because of this, but if you don't mind a slight tint, and don't mind waiting maybe three weeks, they're probably OK.

The way I learned of the company, Clark Howard, consumer advocate, recommends them.

Consider calling your local eye doc and supporting your community. I’m betting they could definitely use your business today, and most are being very generous right now with expired rxes to get you the vision you need. Many, if not all, will ship so you don’t have to step into the store.

I've used Zenni for many years and my eye doctor recommends them especially for 'working class' glasses. Mostly they have been great. One time a lens kept falling out of the frame, so I sent a photo and they built replacement glasses and sent them to me at no charge.

Havent' bought online glasses for myself, wife did and sent both pairs back even though they had the script the lens magnification was off, learned to buy it where the optician can sit and properly space the lens to your face/eyes.

Reccomend Costco and/or Sams, both have great deals on glasses, you can order a specific setup if you have progressives with UV tint for computer work which is what I did.

Moves and changes the position of the magnificaiton so that you can see the screen without having to tilt your head back.

Makes a big difference, and not overly expensive.

I too have used Zenni for years. Also Voogueme.com and Goggles4u.com. I like Zenni the best.

Absolutely. They do a GREAT job on filling the prescription, and adjusting and fitting the frame.

I am not always crazy about the frames that they have, but you can bring your own if you like, for an eighteen dollar (last time I checked) upcharge.

One thing that I do NOT like, prescription sunglass lens was ONLY available polarized. Because of this, I get sunglasses elsewhere, I do not want polarized lens because they do not play nicely with LCD screens.

I've purchased from Zenni for years and never received lenses with a tint or yellowish color.

As far as mail order internet providers go, I've had the most success with glassesshop.com. Originally went with them back in 2010 because they offered more wide frames (I take 145-150mm width with 145 temple arms) than anyone else. That has diminished of late but still...
The lenses always have measured spot on to my Rx when checked by my ophthalmologist. I buy progressive lenses and have them brown tinted (either solid or graduated).
I quit buying eyeglasses at optometrists decades ago because of the inflated prices.

I use 39dollarglasses.com

They have made mistakes in making my glasses. But they have stood by their product and re-made them correctly.

I have to call them after I place an online order and tell them to do a triple inspection. It takes a week longer to get the glasses. But I know they are correct when I get them.

I'm not addressing the online mailing bit - I haven't tried it.

I *have* tried glasses for just work at the computer, and they didn't work out for me. It was because I would be wearing trifocals if I didn't have progressive lenses. I'm assuming you're in the same boat - progressive lenses.

I asked the Optometrist about it, and you need a slightly different prescription than just the distance part of your progressive prescription. That's the trifocal curse. Bifocals, you could use just the distance prescription. It still might not be a win, though.

I had the Optometrist set up a prescription that would work best at just the distance I anticipated the computer screen would be, and they did ok for that alone. For reading the screen AND for reading stuff on the desk, like you have to when you're doing data entry and such, they didn't work at all. For looking at anything across the room, they were also a no-go.

If you're still in the Bifocal era, they'd work for the pc screen and further, but data entry? Nope.

I would like to apologize to anyone I have *not* offended. Please be patient. I will get to you shortly.

I, too, have used Zenni for many years. I usually get my main everyday pair of bifocals from the optician, where I can specify some higher quality lenses. And I have a very nice titanium frame that I use over with just new lenses. But for my computer bifocals, and single vision readers, I use Zenni.

I have good luck at Americas Best. One pair of bifocals with tint and one pair set at arms length with no tint for computer and shooting. Just have to change glasses with going from open sights to red dots.
