Underwear Options?
Duluth Buck Naked for me. I also have the Breeze shooters, but they run a bit larger imo.

Wool works for socks.....can't say I'd go there for shorts.

I haven't tried wool underwear, but I like wool long underwear (I have some from Smartwool and some from Helly Hansen) better than anything else I've ever tried (silk, capilene/polypropylene, fleece), ESPECIALLY for very active activities like skiing.

I do wear boxer briefs under the wool long underwear, but nothing else, and have no problems with itchiness. I suspect wool underwear would be just fine, maybe great.

I'd like to try some Duluth Trading, but I still have an unopened package of Fruit of the Loom.

They have flaps of material on the inside that sit between your nuts and your thighs and prevent chafing and that sweaty, sticky feeling.

They have a number of different kinds including super soft rayon and performance wicking synthetic. Also in a variety of lengths and tightnesses.

They're expensive, though.
I'll give a second thumbs up here as well.

I’ve used cotton Hanes boxer briefs for years without complaint (myself or wimmin). I just got a pack of Hanes X-Temp poly boxer briefs to try out and I’ll be buying more. Super cool and comfortable.

Ex Officios are great and last well plus you can wash them in the hotel sink and they will be dry by the next morning.

Another vote for Duluth. Wet and then dry... quick.

I have a pair of Saxx. I think they're OK, but I don't think their flap design lives up billing. I don't find them anymore comfortable than other boxer-briefs I have that have the right front pouch for me.

The Ex Officio travel undies have been around a long time and live up to the hype, despite their high cost.

The 32 Cool from Costco are mesh, which makes them highly breathable and comfortable. The drawback w/ mesh construction is lack of durability. Mine snag a lot an also attract debris. When I'm doing something active and wear them under shorts (e.g., mowing the lawn), I get a lot of crap attached to them.

Champion has SmartTEMP boxer-briefs. They are cotton/poly/spandex blend. I like mine, and Costco has a good deal on them. They are a good compromise between going cotton vs synthetic.

There are a lot of options out there. I prefer polyester moisture-wicking boxer-briefs, but I'm not too picky about brand. I am picky about fit though. The way the waistband, leg holes, and front pouch line up makes or breaks it for me.

I complain every time I spend 18-20 bucks on one pair of the Duluth Buck Naked, but those suckers are great in the humidity of MS. Worth the money. Dangit.

Another Duluth Trading undie guy here. I'm a huge fan of the Armachillo line.

Kirkland brand at Costco! Great support and they hold up great after many washings.
