sewing retreats , why wouldn't that work for shooter's ?
Just got through house sitting for a lady that went to a sewing retreat for 4 days.

She pays for a room at a campground and her meals and thats it.

She carts her serger , her sewing machine, two armloads of debris and three tables.

They sew, knit, crochet, needle point , quilt, hem and much more.

all the while chatting, discussing, exchanging information, show off their projects and more yakking.

4 or 5 vendors show up to offer them stuff to buy and do 30 minute talks.

I am wondering if shooters are anywhere near that social ?

most bring a tupperware box full of either cookies, or crackers, candies or snacks to share .

30 showed up last week to share and learn from five states.

I think I would try it at least once.

Hen party. And 4 days would burn up a lot of ammo.

Not sure I would really enjoy a sewing retreat that much.

Even though I normally steer clear of needles, I’d be interested if someone could show me how to knit an AR or two.

You mean a gathering of a radical ultra right militia full of potential domestic terrorists?

Sorry I was just imagining the news headlines. Smile

Technically we have shoots all over. Knob Creek being the most known.

Rather than a shoot'em'up, a 3D printing party could foment lots of interest. Print your lowers/frames, build your projects with parts supplied by a host of vendors/sponsors. The mystery is why it hasn't happened yet.

Some III% and patriot groups do just that. Trick is to find a non / less militant group.

SIL and family belong to one. They practice shooting, survival and bushcraft skills etc. They have presentations on varied subjects. They meet monthly I think but sometimes make a weekend of camping, training etc.

Before the state found out and cracked down, people were having 80% AR build parties out here.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

A bunch of old friends go to the boonies once a year for "blast and cast" weekend. Lots of fun. We have one hardfast rule. No handling of any firearms in any way, after any alcohol is consumed.
