I received an attractive lease offer on a "PR64 car." Haven't signed on the dotted line yet, still working out a few kinks with the Ford dealer.

Glad you might've found a solution that doesn't involve a road trip from Houston

Not a done deal yet, still working on it.

Never had an EV nor Plug-In Hybrid. I've been informed that it will be couple hundred or more for an electrician to install a charging outlet in the garage, but I have a better idea.

Neighbors are getting solar. Maybe I can bribe their installer to run a secret line to my garage, if he'll take a large pepperoni pizza and a six pack to do the job.

Same on both but a Leaf. I’m at 10 years, 6 months, charging it off the sun. Will finally replace the 2013 for a 2023 or 2024 CPO Leaf March of next year as they go out of print at the end of the year.

My L2 charger was also installed in 2014 and is still going strong. My electrician at the time, charged me $200 to install it. It’s a NRG unit with its own surge protection built into it. Also have a whole home surge protector in the breaker box, Square D. I leased the charger, initially, as I did with the Leaf. NRG sold it to me a year later for something like $200.

What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

The reality of changing for me V-Tail is that I don’t charge very often. Maybe once every three weeks or so for 3-4 hours.

I don’t drive a lot. Mostly around town to the grocery store, hardware store, Sports Bar etc.

The car may come with a mobile charger and that can be plugged into a regular outlet or a 220. On the 110 it takes a while to charge but chances are if your driving around is not much that you might be just fine for your needs.

Range on a charge is 250-310 depending on the battery size.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that if you don’t commute everyday charging is not a big deal.

I would ask about the mobile charger.

100% this.

I don't charge very often, and have only driven 7000 miles in 2 years in my EV. I use a 220V charger, and charge overnight to 80% when I get to 10-15% of full charge. Car is ready in the morning.

Level 1 / 2 charger is definitely included in the Mach-E for which we received the lease quote. Also included in every new 2023 / 2024 that I've looked at on the dealer's website.

Neither DCFC adapter nor Tesla adapter included, but I really don't think I'll need either one unless I embark on a long road trip, which is not very likely.

You don’t need a DCFC adapter because the Mach E is designed for them.

The Tesla adapter is another story. Ford is giving them away to all the current EV owners but you have to sign up for one. I signed up the first day they opened up the que and I’m #19xxx. Originally I was supposed to get mine in July but Musk fired his entire charging team.

Now I’m “supposed” to get it in October. It’s not Fords fault because they are at the mercy of Musk and Tesla since they are manufacturing them. My solution was to buy a A2Z adapter in the meantime for peace of mind. I have not used it yet but wanted it just in case I needed one.

In 2025-2026 you are going to see all the EVs coming out with the NACS = Tesla ports. NACS stands for North American Charging Standard.
