Turns out Delta’s ranks are broader than just the Army. Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant Tate Jolly was awarded the Navy Cross for heroism under fire during the rescue. https://www.military.com/daily...ss-benghazi.html/amp

I knew they recruited from all the other services but I thought you had to switch over to the Army if you made the cut. "Blessed is he who when facing his own demise, thinks only of his front sight.” Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem Montani Semper Liberi

I'm glad to hear this...fantastic news and well-deserved. I just listened to Shawn Ryan's interview with Mark Geist a week ago. The way those guys got hung out by our government will make your blood boil...but their courage and immediate jump to action against overwhelming odds is incredibly inspiring.

I had heard a couple of years ago that he was an actual member of B Squadron. This was the first I’ve seen that confirms he was a Marine.

Those men have brass balls. I would have taken myself out of the fight with a paper cut on a finger. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Not unusual for non-Army guys to find a home with CAG, particularly with Marines, as the Corps culture has a tendency to stifle and restrict high-performers. Not unusual to find Marines lateraling over to other SOF units, that may have slowed down with the establishment of MARSOC but, this also depends on how open the funding tap is.

I’ve watched endless amount of shows and videos on our military over the years, and most were related to top tier operators. I haven’t had the military channel for several years, but i seem to remember these units will integrate other services which have special skills. Most notably, the Air Force guys, who at this time if the morning, i cant remember what they’re called. They aren’t the PJs, but are tip tier guys who can fit in with any of the other branches tops. You're probably thinking of Combat Controller Teams. They're amongst a collection of specialists (incl PJ's) in the Special Tactics Squadrons who are attached to other units (usually SOF units) to augment and support their operations. They coordinate all the air assets, fire control and communications for that unit's operation. Much of the USAF's awards for valor over the last 20-years, came from this community.

IIRC, in another Shawn Ryan interview, a former Delta guy said that the Marine Corps is the only branch that reserves the right to pull their man back to their branch.
