Can anyone suggest where and which SSD to get for my new PC?

Newegg has Samsung 850 Evo 500GB for 140. Do yourself a favor & go Samsung. 500GB is the sweet spot for speed, size & price right now. <240GB will not be as fast (due to fewer controller channels)

Macrium Reflect can clone your current HDD to the SSD. It free & has worked fine for me numerous times. I have an ~$10 USB3->SATA cable that I use to clone. If you're going to keep the 2TB HDD, just add the SSD & then clone. Once cloned, change the boot settings to the SSD & wipe the HDD.

Buy a cheap drive enclosure when you’ve finished the transfer and turn that 2TB drive into external storage.

The XPS should have room inside for multiple hard drives.

Just keep the 2TB mechanical drive inside the computer as a D: drive and skip the additional failure point of having a USB control board between the drive and the motherboard.

If you want an external drive, then just get an external drive. Commercially produced external drives come with additional features that you really don't get slapping your own hard drive into a $15 enclosure, like hardware encryption for the drive.

FYI, the new XPS cases are tiny. Have fun in there. Also it doesn't come with a screw for the M.2 slot.
