My gf has sat through my guy movies, the least I can do is sit through the occasional chic flick. La La Land is actually a pretty good movie, give it a chance.

I hated the musical parts but I liked the plot and I thought the ending was well done. If nothing else, Emma Stone should get you through it easily.

Mrs. DF made me watch Mama Mia with her in the theatre. She convinced me that I'd like it. I slept through most of it. As we were leaving I told her I'm never doing that again. So far so good.

Yup. Tho, in the spirit of fairness, because she sits through some stuff with me that's not her favourite, I'll bear some of it.

She has successfully gotten me to like Father Brown, Doc Martin and Murdoch Mysteries Smile

I draw the line at things like Call the Midwife, tho, and she knows it. And there was no way she was gettin' me hooked on Downton Abbey.

That says a lot. To the OP, watch it, and use it for leverage.

I heard it has some good cinematic shots of LA, lighting and landscape wise so I will probably watch it for that.

You still have time to convert!

"The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."
"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."
"I did," said Ford, "it is."
"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"
"It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want."
"You mean they actually vote for the lizards."
"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."
"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"
"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I have never and will never understand musicals. Even as a little kid - I'd be watching the flick, and suddenly, out of no where, everybody turns gay and starts singin' and dancin'. I would think to myself, "WTF?!" as I got up and walked over to the set to turn the channel.
