Alea iacta est |
So we were out four wheeling today. I told my buddy that the “gun forum” knows all and I will get an answer. I hope that is the case. On a civilized dirt road. Came across this. It was on a dirt road, that could be traversed by just about any and all vehicles, including tractor trailers. Does anyone know what it goes to? It appears to thread in, and is a pin or holder of some type. The shoulder has notches that appear to lock in. It’s made of stainless, and it’s not shit quality. Tore it is a T-55. Does anyone know what it is? The “lol” thread

If it's a Torx head, it may be off a Jeep.

That’s ACDelco part number 179-1337, brake caliper guide pin for a 2003-2008 H2 Hummer.

His diet consists of black coffee, and sarcasm. |
Somebody's mid-2000s GM full-sized, 2500/3500 truck is missing a brake caliper bolt. Two large bolts hold the caliper bracket to the steering knuckle, this bolt holds the caliper to the bracket, also acting as a guide/slide pin.

I. was. not. surprised. It's SigForum. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." That pin looks a lot like the fasteners holding the left side CV axle in a 2000 VW New Beetle. And that doesn’t look quite right for a Torx head bolt, if it’s like the #$@&-%@;// VW. It’s a 10mm 12 point Allen star tool. Nice is overrated "It's every freedom-loving individual's duty to lie to the government." Airsoftguy, June 29, 2018

It was a joke. At least the detailed description part and Rey HRH picked up on exactly what I was thinking when I posted it. Hell no I didn’t know what it was. I used 83v45magna’s first response saying caliper slide pin, although I knew it wasn’t from a motorcycle because Beancooker said it was T55 which is bigger than the bed bolts on my truck. From there it was two minutes of interweb search. My hat’s off to egregore because he probably knew it off the top of his head.

Yes indeed. The average forum would've responded with "uranus" _________________________ NRA Endowment Member _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S.
