She’s got a rash on her neck so we’ll head to the vet tomorrow. She got about 30 minutes of cuddles and fell asleep tonight.

She doesn’t necessarily like the small camper, but she loves the acreage to roam and chase squirrels.

It’s crazy how amazing they are, when my dad lays in his chair, some days his dog won’t leave the house, lays on the floor 3’ away by the fireplace.

Lost our boy Pete a few weeks back. 13 years. They're something special. Give him a hug for me.

She sure looks comfy in her bed Otto, even if she prefers being out chasing squirrels!

I’m easy to fret if something’s wrong with one of my dogs. Yesterday morning, she was having a hard time popping in the yard. She comes in, I give them morning treats but she’s not exited. then after a while, she’s on my lap. All of a sudden, she jumps down and can’t help herself but goes. I see a fair amount of blood with her soft poop. I keep track of her throughout the day thinking I may have to take her to the vet. She’s 10 years old. Then this morning, she’s back to normal.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." She looks just like our Scout, same cinnamon sugar coat with the darker red “mask” around his eyes and ears. Many Queenslands are “one man dogs”, but I’ve never seen one that wasn’t fiercely loyal to his or her people, whether they acknowledge one person as their people or a family. They are awesome dogs!

That’s been the case with all 3 of mine. She’ll leave food to come over and touch me. Any time she’s afraid or nervous she huddles between my legs. At the same time she launched the recent puppy 6-8 feet by the back of the neck when it bit at the youngest child. She doesn’t strike me as aggressive but I’d be damn sure she’d turn into a 50lb fur missile if she ever thought I was in danger. She’s resting again tonight on some good meds for her ailment. I’m sure she’ll be right again in no time.

Unlike any other healer I’ve met, she’s yet to develop the course outer coat. Her fur is still nearly as soft as she was as a puppy

Ah Jelly, she is my favorite. Just make sure she doesn't get bit or stung by something new to you guys there J.

My previous Australian cattle dog was the best girl. She was my dog. I miss her.

Our recent Heeler mix is more outgoing and super friendly. She is loyal and loves me too. She is developing into a great pup too.

Get well soon Jelly!

True, lol. He's a year old now and I don't think he's getting any bigger...he topped out around 50lb, which is a good size but maybe not quite living up to his name.

We had a nice 3 mile walk in the snow tonight after work (it's our first snow this year and he loves it), I cleaned my MkIV and the suppressor that I used earlier this week, and then we crashed on the couch with some snacks to browse sigforum. He ate half of my beef stick and then fell asleep. Not a bad way to spend the evening!

ORC,

Every time I take a picture of Jelly or think about posting you always come to mind first.

Weirdest thing today was, the vet kept asking me, “does she free roam where you live, is she just allowed to free roam?”.

I started getting irritated. I said, “yes, but she’s a dog, not a toddler. What am I supposed to do?”. I asked if they were thinking she got into something, but they never would answer or give any more context to their questions. They just kept making it seem as though I throwing her to the wolves. And this is in a VERY rural part of Georgia. I doubt most folks around here even visit the vet’s office.

This dog is spoiled more than most kids, but I’m bad for letting her roam a dozen+ acres. What the heck.

Pet Galena and Tassey for me tonight, maybe even give em a treat from me Big Grin

She got 3 meds today at the vet. I tried putting the first one in a little piece of turkey. When it fell out she ate the turkey then the pill off the floor. Next two she caught in the air and swallowed.

Flys, pills, occasional sticks, doesn’t matter. She’s a Hoover!

She’d likely take a finger off if I had a beef stick to share.

Moose will eat anything except pills. His heartworm pill was a huge fight. We hid it in his food bowl and he ate all his food and left the pill. So we coated it in peanut butter and he put the whole thing in his mouth, sucked off all the peanut butter, and spit the pill out. Finally a neighbor gave us these pill pocket things that are chicken flavored that you can wrap around the pill, and that did the job.

Silly fools would be really upset about our “goat dogs”. First two batches were Anatolian/Great Pyrenees crosses. This time around we switched to straight Anatolians for the better coat (much more foxtail & filaree resistant). Their pens range from a few to two hundred acres. They live outside with the goats 7x24x365 other than the occasional vet appointment. Most of them seem happiest hanging out with “their peeps” (the goats) and barking at anyone or anything that wanders by.

The idea that some person who doesn’t know a dog knows better about what that dog needs than their owner is just ludicrous. If they were my vet, their farewell gift might well be a printout of that meme I’ve seen here once or twice with the guy holding up the coffee cup and asking, “How ‘bout a nice cup of STFU?”

Our vet recommended and we’ve had good luck with cream cheese with many dogs as well.

Thanks I'll give that a try. Our old dog was easy...you'd just hold them out and she'd eat them. Moose apparently has a more discerning palate.

I will not tolerate a doctor or a vet that gets enigmatic when asked questions. Especially when asked to clarify their own questions. When leaving that vets office, I would have asked the receptionist how to go about transferring my dogs' records to whatever new vet I wound up with.
If she asked if there was a problem, I would just glance towards the exam area, say 'yes' and leave.
