Shanghai had been on home isolation lock-down for 2-months and they were just relaxed....so, not only do they have to worry about an airborne virus, they also now get to deal with various chemical and particulates in the air.
Great job China

Not if I have anything to say about it. (Of course, I don't have a lot of "pull".)

Sometimes I forget to cancel that idiotic feature when I start to drive and it pisses me off overtime.

The rental Jeep I'm driving while my car is in the shop does that. I've no idea how to disable it. I worry that the feature will run down the battery in stop-and-go traffic and short trips.

Is there a button with an 'A' in a circle? If so, that will disable the auto stop / start.

It does not remember from one trip to the next; you have to press the button each time you turn the ignition on to start a new trip.

You can buy one of these gadgets for your OBD2 port and it will retain the Auto Start/Stop setting for you. I have one for my KL Cherokee.

Good to remember this for possible future needs.

In the specific case that was mentioned, flashgun is driving a short-term rental while his car is in the shop, so pressing the button is probably adequate, rather than buy a dongle.

Theres no concern for the battery, as VT said you should have a disable feature button, and it does have to be pressed each time after the car is started.

I wouldn't worry about it, just drive the vehicle and let it do it's thing, annoying yes, stupid, yes,

BTW next time you are at a light, just let off the brake pedal slightly, the engine will restart and stay running even when you press it back down, or just push the button..
