Two probes: the short fat one with clip that clips between the grill grates and the other is a meat probe.

The max temp, 572 degrees, might be a limiting factor. I wouldn’t clip it over hot coals, but it could probably replace the thermometer in a Weber lid.

I don't need it often, but having ability to run 6 probes is nice at times. Never had a problem with accuracy other than one failing probe (probably from washing or being closed under a 20# metal door), and reception is solid.

Comes with one ambient probe, can add as many as needed.

Whatever you do, I recommend not getting something that doesn't have an app. Being able to set alarms for grate temps or meat temps, high or low, and not have to eyeball it is the best part.

Try 'Googleing', "TempSpike Grill Gauge - Wireless Bluetooth Grill Thermometer, 450ft Range, Upgrade Any Grill or Smoker to Smart". WalMart has one for about $40. It just replaces your current gauge.

I've had good experiences with the Maverick Brand. Has several probes, for the meat and the grill temp. Can also bluetooth to the phone.

Depending on your needs/use case (now and the future)
I don't have the Smoke, No phone or app needed, but it is limited to 300 feet line of sight. Depending on your setup that may or may not be an issue.


I do have:

• Signals - that connects with my WiFi and works pretty well - though WiFi signals outside the house can be a challenge for some people. It has an app for your phone, so you can monitor remotely. It comes w/ 4 probes, one of those is used for monitoring the grill temp.
  
• RFX Wireless When I got a rotisserie, I added this for the wireless probes. Same app for the phone. This also comes with a wired probe to monitor grill temp. This has mostly replaced my use of the Signals, though I still use that from time to time.
  
• Billows - This is just a fan that connects to the signals or RFX kit. controls the airflow and helps maintain a steady temperature. One of the handiest things I have for those long smokes.
  

Bluetooth is functional, but for the OP consider how you want to monitor your cook before deciding. If you never need to run to store, hang out at neighbors, etc. during a cook that's fine.

For a longer cook like, let's say, 3 briskets and 8 pork butts, I can monitor via wifi/app while pulling my kids around the lake on a tube. See temp dropping off as normal when fire is burning down a bit, motor back or better yet text someone to go throw another log on the fire.

For something as stable as a pellet or a BGE, I wouldn't worry about it. Hell, I've gone to a movie while cooking on the BGE before. They are flat-line stable.

I've had two Mavericks flake out, albeit several years ago so they may have improved since I bit the bullet and went a different direction.

I bought the Signals then bought the Billows about 2 years later. The Billows is fantastic. I no longer have to call my wife or get up three times at night to make adjustments to my Smokey Mountain.

I too, am looking for a plain simple oven thermometer that has a remote display. Just the oven temperature. No probes, no meat temperature, I just want to know the oven temperature with a reasonable degree of accuracy without having to open the oven door to read the thermometer.

Everything that I have seen has meat probes and a lot of fancy features.

Wow, I did not get my Thermoworks Smoke on sale but for $54.50 right now on sale vs. my $109, I would just grab it for monitoring oven temps and you get the meat probe as an extra.

I'm tempted to buy another just because. To offset the full price I paid on the first one.

ETA: The probe part is very accurate and will measure oven/smoker temps but not wireless. The hand held readout is wireless.
For grilling, it's recommended to keep the corded part of the probe away from direct flames above certain temps.

I can't find this - but would consider for oven use as well. Is this sale over, or am I not looking in the right place??

The sale must be over. It was $54.50 when I provided the link in the first line of the first response to the original post.
