This might be a good place to share corny geek jokes. Here's one: Q: What is the pay scale for a LEO working the third shift? A: CuNO3 When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth. - George Bernard Shaw

“A Google employee has broken the world record for calculating Pi to the highest number of digits - at 31 trillion. They made their announcement today, on Pi day which falls on March 14th, or 3.14, the US format of the date, in its most basic form. Emma Haruka Iwao, a member of the tech giant's staff, used an application called y-cruncher on 25 different Google Cloud virtual machines from her office in Japan. She said the calculation took about 121 days to complete – with zero breaks, otherwise it would have been disrupted…” https://mol.im/a/6808995 Serious about crackers

Yeah, but can she repeat it from memory? "The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people." "Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy." "I did," said Ford, "it is." "So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?" "It honestly doesn't occur to them. They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates the government they want." "You mean they actually vote for the lizards." "Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course." "But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?" "Because if they didn't vote for a lizard, then the wrong lizard might get in."

I don't understand celebrating Pi. It's irrational. "To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them." ~George Mason chartprepping.com Retirement Planning and Random Musings from a Military Perspective

It's the men's version of Valentine's day today as well. If you're unfamiliar you might google today's date. _____________________ Be careful what you tolerate. You are teaching people how to treat you.

I made this for the holidays and it was well received. 55 Butterscotch Pie 1 9" pie crust, homemade or store bought, baked before being filled. 1 cup packed brown sugar 5 Tablespoons butter 5 Tablespoons white wheat flour 1 teaspoon corn starch 1 teaspoon Kahlua 2 cups cream 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 3 eggs, yolks and whites separated 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar In a double boiler melt the butter then add the sugar. Stir until blended. Add the flour in small amounts. Stir constantly. When mixed, add the cream in small amounts as it is absorbed. Stir. Add the Kahlua, salt, and nutmeg. Stir. Remove one cup of the filling to the bowl with the egg whites, mix well. Return this to the double boiler. Stir!! Evaporate until soft peaks will stand. Cool. Fill the crust. Pre-heat oven to 350'. Combine the egg whites, sugar, and cream of tartar in a mixing bowl. Whisk vigorously until stiff peaks form. Layer atop the pie. Place the pie on the top rack of the oven. Monitor until a gold/brown coloring appears. Chill two hours. Serve. "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye". I laughed at the equation in the OP, too. Working at home today allowed me to bake a French Coconut Pie this morning. Still have to add the Pi on top. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca

She calculated it to 31,415,926,535,897 digits - so did she do Pi to the Pi(th) degree? (if you look at the number above - it is the first 14 characters of Pi). And did she do it for a rational reason?
