Visited the breakfast tree this morning.
Ah, good morning, my friend. What have you got for me today?

A grapefruit? Why, thank you. Yes, this will do nicely.

Your previous owner didn’t feed you enough potassium. Don’t worry, I’m going to take care of you.

Despite all that, you still produced some delicious fruit.

Thank you for the fantastic breakfast. Now, for tonight’s dinner, we’ll talk to your neighbor the dwarf lemon about her contribution for some creamy lemon chicken. That one hanging low looks like just the one.

Any other citrus growers here? I’m trying to decide where we have room to plant a Bearss lime and a Gold Nugget tangelo for my next stunt.

Looks good, although the Lemon would go well in a Vodka Tonic.....

Mr. Smudge would probably prefer it without the vodka. His lemon, his rules. Smile

Sliced up under a chicken roasting in the oven would be perfect. I have a meyers lemon tree. I’m afraid my key lime just crapped out on me..

Yeah, I don’t do well on vodka, it gives me liver failure. Chicken is much easier on my system. The wife is halfway through a bottle of tonic, though, so I’ll pass that along.

Irreverent, I’m pretty sure this is a Meyer lemon. I’m not sure what we have for grapefruit, might be a Duncan? Dunno. Not a Rio Red or one of the pink varieties. That sucks about your Key lime, I hope it comes back. For whatever reason around here, they say the Mexican and Key limes are they same, and they are not.

Tonic (without the gin, vodka, etc.) is refreshing on a hot day. I prefer it with a slice of lime, rather than lemon. Got hooked on it when I lived in Puerto Rico, there was a lime tree in the back yard.

Back in early 2013 I won a karma from a member in Tempe AZ... 20lb box of lemons and oranges. I apologize for not remembering his name but I still recall how great the citrus was. Big Grin

UPDATE:
Found an old email about this. It was member HuntHelp. Again my thanks to Jim. That said he hasn't posted here since June 2023.

I have a Mexican Lime(Key Lime) tree growing in my front yard. They do NOT tolerate cold weather, so they have to be protected if it gets cold outside. These are the BEST limes one can find, in my way of thinking.

Unfortunately, it gets too cold around here for them. Frown

We have a lime tree that makes wonderful little limes. They end up in beverages and squeezed over various dishes I cook. Once in a while I sprinkle a little bit of sugar on slices and enjoy the tartness.

We also have a lemon tree, and its fruit often finds it way into this recipe: https://recipes.instantpot.com...ragus-lemon-risotto/

There is nothing like fresh citrus. Smile

I had a dwarf Grapefruit tree for many years, but last summer was brutal and it killed it. I cut it down last week.
