I traded my 1998 Integra GS-R back to its previous owner, who gave me his 2005 Subaru WRX. He had been bugging me for years to sell it or trade it back to him. He finally had something interesting enough to take him up on a trade.

The Integra was lowered and loud as hell. It was a super fun little car that felt a lot like a go-kart with razor sharp handling. The WRX handles great but it is a heavier car so it definitely feels quite a bit different.

The WRX is mostly stock with only an intake and cat back exhaust along with wheels, adjustable coil over suspension and a glowing shift knob attached to the 5 speed manual transmission.

It has about 80,000 miles on a full engine rebuild with receipts. So far it’s been a blast. It runs great!! The turbo whine as it spools up is a VERY additive sound. Big Grin

I can totally see how people modify and then blow these things up. It’s not fast but it has a FUN engine that makes even a boring commute to work quite a bit more enjoyable.

Nice!
Always preferred that model over the bug eyed prior option.
Never was a big fan of the later hatchback

That's arguably the best year of the STI breed. You get better hubs than the 04 STI, a more refined DCCD, and the best iteration of the ej25. Leave the peak boost level alone and tune for a broader powerband if you must. E85 is a rabbit hole that turns into a money pit. Also if your rear diff is worn out, you can snap a rear axle if you launch it enough. This is usually caused by running a big rear bar that lifts the inside rear tire on tight corner entry. The suretrac diffs do not like being suddenly unloaded on one side. This never happens on dirt. Anyway all is bueno when the rear diff is in good shape, that transmission can handle a lot of power.

KW V3 is an excellent street/track coilover for these cars.

Enjoy!

Has the scoop & high wing of the STI, but the OP only says WRX. He also said 5 speed, so WRX. Confused

STI scoop is a bit taller. Spoiler could have been added.

Nismo is correct the wing was added by a previous owner. I also got the original spoiler, exhausts and wheels as part of the deal but the big old STI wing is growing on me so it’ll probably stay.

It passed inspection today! Big Grin Big Grin

Those cars are a blast to auto cross if you stick a set of R compound tires on it and learn how to keep it on the boost!

Congrats!
