Not sure if this is a verboten topic and/or if this is being covered in an existing thread already. Please let me know if either.

I have some co-workers who work in Israel. I know they have been having issues that have evolved into mass protests. I'm distrustful about anything reported in the media but I'd still like to have a better understanding of what's going on over there. Co-workers there make comments and I have no intelligent opinion.

It does sound complicated, with tensions between what's best for the people vs what the (an authoritative) government might want but then also complicated by aspects of corruption, well informed and misinformed beliefs, religious aspects, legal aspects, etc. And whether Bibi is considered a good guy or a bad guy. It's not a simple, it seems, left vs right story.

It's not that I want to debate anything with co-workers there. But I'd like to hear what they are saying w/ some sort opinion.

Is this being discussed somewhere here already? If not, anybody have a short 101 on what's going on?
